Cool! Hey, mine would be a lot lower if I hadn't just lurked for two years. :^)
Who's 666?
My reach exceeds my grasp.
By the way, #666 is someone named "Toros"...
And further, we're neighbors, I live around Chicago...
FRegards...
We'll have to keep an eye on him/her. :^)

I used to go up there about once a year to hit the club scene. Payton's 34s club will always be by favorite bar I ever went to. Went to a Cubs/Mets double-header in '98 when I was getting my passport. Was wanting to see a Bears game before Soldier Field got renovated but didn't make it. Great city.
Is there a way you can access a numerical list of Freepers? It would be fun to see who the first ones were and see if I remember them. I'd like to see what number my original screen name was. I changed it in December 1997 but I was here pretty much from Day one. I remember getting a call from Jim Robinson to check it out the day it went live.
GRRRRRRRubbin' IS Racin'
Hover your pointer over your name on a thread and look in the bottom of the browser window line.
Your number appears to be 7,660
I don't know of any way to access a numerical list, but I have to believe that John Robinson could if he wanted to.
One way to check (tedious, yes) is to simply clock this URL up or down in a browser window:
http://freerepublic.com/perl/profile?u=400
Just change the 400 to any other number and view the page that comes up.
Agree wholeheartedly.
Ritchie Blackmore wishes he had half the chops of Steve Morse. :)
Scroll down to the bottom to get a post from 2/5/97
Jim was #1, of course. Then I didn't recognize anyone until Billie at #96. There were several "no current freeper"s. I began lurking in '98 though. (Eric was #2, he's the first non-Robinson...:^)...).
I'd read FreeRepublic if I had to learn MS-DOS programing to make it work, thank God I don't have to. The new format is just that, new. It appears the howling and teeth gnashing has subsided
Yep. They already thought of that:
NEWS/ACTIVISM
Fighting Facts With Slander [ironic title, eh?]
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/658435/posts
"... the insufferably sanctimonious Alan Keyes described people like myself , Paul Craig Roberts, Walter Williams, Joe Sobran, Charles Adams, Jeffrey Rogers Hummell, Doug Bandow, Ebony magazine editor Lerone Bennett, Jr., and other Lincoln critics as "pseudo-learned scribblers," with an "incapacity to recognize moral purpose" who display "uncomprehending pettiness," are "dishonest," and, once again, his favorite word for all who disagree with him: "ignorant."
"Ignorant" and "slanderous" is the precise language one should use to describe the hysterical rantings and ravings of Alan Keyes and his minions at the so-called Declaration Foundation."
You're right, it's funny to just sit back and watch these idiots hang themselves with their own rope. In that article, the "true" conservatives mercilessly bashed Reagan, Lincoln, Keyes, and others...then defended "learned Lincoln critics" like ULTRA-LEFTIST Jesse Jackson clone Lerone Bennett, Jr. The latter spends most of time running Ebony magazine-- promoting welfare and making sure blacks stay on the Democrat plantation.
I wonder if JimRob just gives the neo-confederates free reigh for the amusement. ;-)
Yes, they say Lincoln was a socialist, but if that's the case why do known socialists and Hollywood dislike him so much.

He gives lots of groups a lot of rein. When they start pushing things farther and farther to the fringe is when he steps in and then there is much knashing of teeth, like with the tin-foilers. LOL It's gotten to the point where there are some that won't even call Lincoln by his name, they try to be as crude as possible, to get more attention, I guess. They may be getting attention but they're not winning anyone over, they're justing proving how far from truth they've drifted.
