April 1, 2002 -- FEDERAL law enforcement has kicked over quite an anthill in Northern Virginia. A U.S. Treasury task force, Operation Green Quest, has been investigating the funding of Islamic terror. Raids on March 20 struck an extraordinary array of financial, charitable and ostensibly religious entities identified with Muslim and Arab concerns in this country, most of them headquartered in Northern Virginia.

I'm starting to think that we should put Iraq and Iran on the back burner until we've toppled the House of Saud and made Saudi Arabia what it should have been since about 1970: a heavily garrisoned American protectorate, administered by some velvet-fingered type such as, oh, Norman Schwarzkopf. If he's not available, maybe former New Jersey high school principal Joe Clark could be persuaded to take the role.

Wolf Meeting Focuses on Muslim's Anger Over Raids

By Eden Schneider

Observer Staff Writer

The Muslim community turned out in force for a town meeting with U.S. Congressman Frank R. Wolf (R-Va.) last Saturday, demanding an explanation for raids on homes and businesses last week which left the community shaken and angry.

Community leaders expressed their concerns about the March 20 raids on the offices of the International Institute of Islamic Thought in Herndon and 13 other locations in Loudoun and Fairfax counties.

Wolf's town meeting on March 23 at the Sterling library was the third this week to hear constituent's viewpoints on everything from campaign finance reform and commuter taxes to the issue of OxyContin addiction. Most of the two-hour meeting, however, was spent fielding questions about the raids from an angry but reserved audience of more than 100. "We're scared, we don't know what next,” said one man. "The Muslim community stands on very solid ground about the war on terrorism, but you are our only venue, so we ask you to go to [Attorney General John] Ashcroft and let him know, that it's not the number of people you collect, but the actual terrorists who are culled out.”

Wolf said he did not know all the facts of the raid, but vowed to investigate further and to work with the Muslim community to ensure their civil liberties are protected.

"I was the only member of Congress who spoke out for the Muslims in China,” said Wolf. "I visited Chechneya. In January, I spent two days in Afghanistan and five days in Pakistan. I've brought my pastor to your mosque. I've attempted to have an open and balanced policy.”

Members of the audience also asked for Wolf's support of the campaign finance reform bill, which would prohibit corporations or individuals from making large donations to specific candidates by routing funds through the national political parties.

"I watched what took place in the Clinton White House. The coffees for large donations, the sale of sleep overs in the Lincoln bedroom. That's why I voted for the bill,” said Wolf.

Audience members also questioned Wolf on his anti-drug policy, specifically as it relates to the highly addictive prescription drug OxyContin and the social and personal devastation caused by the addiction.

Wolf, who sponsored an informational briefing on OxyContin in Loudoun County the day before his Sterling appearance, acknowledged that theft of the drug from local pharmacies has endangered the community.

"Imagine if you or your wife has been in the Safeway in Sterling Park or the Target in Reston with your children when one of these pharmacies was robbed,” said Wolf. "We have put $2 million into the budget for prescription monitoring in this state.”

To contact Congressman Frank Wolf, call his local office at 703-709-5800 or 800-945-9653. The office is located at 13873 Park Center Road, Suite 130 in Herndon.

====================

Wolf said he did not know all the facts of the raid, but vowed to investigate further and to work with the Muslim community to ensure their civil liberties are protected.

Be interesting to hear what Congressman Wolf finds out. I suspect the feds had valid reasons for the raid. Knowing that this community seems to be politically wired and lawyered up, and knowing what kind of outcry would come out of it, they probably had compelling reasons.

Since Wolf has published his number, feel free to give him a holler. Also, I don't know where this guy is coming from if he voted for CFR. The Clinton people were breaking existing laws.

Most of the money and much of the brains behind the Islamic terrorism emanates from the Arabian Peninsula. Pakistan has now shown itself to be both a source for terrorists and as well as a haven for fugitive terrorists. Saudi Arabia and Pakistan seem to me greater threats than Iraq or Iran. Both countries have highly developed intelligence agencies and have been able to project an appearance of sympathy to the War on Terror, while doing little if anything to stop the terrorists which operate on their soil hidden from international scrutiny.

Is political corruption a normal part of life?...Have we been conditioned to see it all..and ask why..but never carry the investigation to its conclusion?

In some way.. has an ingenious system of deflection emerged.
Did the Saudi's "Talk" their way out of Sept 11th..or did we "Talk" them out of their dilemma for them?.
In a sense...like Pavlovs dog..are they not conditioned by our choice making..ie..they carry on business as usuall..when caught..they enter into verball dialogue..understanding that a little public "Mud" is all that will come of it.
Have the other Mid-east Arab regimes not clued into this "Windfall" mechanics.
They lie..we cover for them.
They threaten our security...we cover for them.
They ask for money and weapons..we do it..our population asks why?..and we cover for them.
Who is the master...and who is the servant?
What will our Governments say to us ..and God forbid that it should ever happen..but what will they say..if America see's bio warfare visit its shores..of 'Dirty suitcase nukes' detonated in some port via a container ship from the mid-east or the orient?
Is this our real reality..that business must come first...that doing so with 'Theatening' regimes is scalable...should a detrimental event occur..it will be discussed away.
Like King Hezekiah..who foolishly showed the Babylonian envoys all his wealth..all his state secrets.
Babylon rolled over Judah shortly thereafter..have we inadvertantly commited the same folly?

Let the guns, tanks and nukes do the talking. Muslims like it this way. I am ready any time and would say the same if I lived in Israel.

Wolf is another example of VAGOP liberal office holders. That's about all they want to run for office in the state, liberals like Wolfe and that gungrabbing NAACP member they ran for governor.

[or did we "Talk" them out of their dilemma for them]

GW Bush was on TV urging Americans to leave the islamic cultists alone while the ruins were still smoldering. He's made an absolute nincompoop out of himself on this subject ever since. It wasn't a case of "we" doing any such thing, it was politicians. They're not "us" and they don't care about us.
