RAMALLAH, West Bank (Reuters) - Israeli troops opened fire Friday on the private offices of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat in the West Bank city of Ramallah, Palestinian officials said.

A Palestinian official said Arafat's life was in jeopardy.

Palestinians have been waging an uprising against occupation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip since September 2000. At least 1,107 Palestinians and 381 Israelis have been killed in tit-for-tat violence since the revolt began.

Your post is so right on. Dashole and the other rats in congress that fight Bush's efforts to make us energy independant are harming this nation.

That is the last word in outrageous and pitiful. I will not fly until this madness ends. I absolutely refuse.

My parents are in their sixties. They just returned from a vacation to Fla. My mother was the person picked out of line to take her shoes off and they went through every bit of her luggage. She had a waterbottle and they made her drink some of it in front of them to prove it wasn't a liquid explosive. Pretty ridiculous as my Mom is the most average looking grandmotherly type going (hope your not reading this Mom). She didn't mind the security check because she is terrified to fly anyway, but if I was the security I would have checked my 6'2" Father instead. At least he looks like he's hiding something huge in his shirt ;)

Jerusalem ghostly as bomb fears keep Israelis inside

Jerusalem ghostly as bomb fears keep Israelis inside

Jerusalem ghostly as bomb fears keep Israelis inside

    By Maia Ridberg
JERUSALEM, March 29 (Reuters) - Jerusalem streets were
mainly deserted on Friday, as Israelis heeded warnings of
further Palestinian attacks and stayed away from public places
usually bustling with life before the Jewish Sabbath.
"Is there anyone who isn't afraid today?" asked one soldier
in the city's bus station, where most travellers were soldiers
heeding orders to cut short their Passover holiday vacation and
return to their bases as tensions mounted.
Passers-by expressed either despair over the lack of
solutions, or determination that the only way to solve the
deteriorating security situation was to deal a fatal blow to
President Yasser Arafat and his Palestinian Authority.
"We should eliminate Arafat and take over the territories,"
said Moshika Sabagi, referring to land in the West Bank and Gaza
Strip captured by Israel in 1967, some of which was later handed
over to Palestinian rule under interim peace accords.
Sabagi was injured in a recent attack in Jerusalem in which
four of his friends died.
He spoke after Israeli tanks and troops battered their way
into Arafat's compound in the West Bank city of Ramallah. Israel
said this was a response to a suicide bombing in the coastal
city of Netanya that killed 22 people on Wednesday.
In the latest violence in an 18-month-old Palestinian
uprising against Israeli occupation, a suspected female suicide
bomber killed at least two people on Friday in an attack on a
Jerusalem supermarket.

    MANY ISRAELIS DESPAIR
While some Israelis spoke of the need for tougher military
steps, others had no answer after months of bloodshed that has
shattered national morale and pushed public consensus
increasingly towards the political right.
"A cloud of paralysing gloom and fear hovers upon us.
National morale is at a low, the economy is wavering on the
verge of collapse and the streets and places of entertainment
are deserted," Amnon Dankner wrote in the daily Maariv
newspaper.
Jessica Salas, who immigrated to Israel from Chile three
years ago, said: "Nothing works. When we go into the (occupied)
territories, attacks on us continue. When we leave, they also
continue. I don't know what we can do".
Without answers or hope, some Israelis talk of leaving the
country.
Guy Degitar, an immigrant from Russia, waited for a bus
with his army-issued gun loaded with bullets ready to shoot at
any attacker who might strike.
"After I finish the army, I am almost sure I will leave and
go to Russia or Canada," he said. "Just not here".

Reports on Fox News say that the opposition party in Israel's government will topple Sharon if he exiles Arafat. Which makes no sense to me. Why the opposition party thinks it can make a deal with a snake is beyond me.

Must be part of the suicide team.

Either that, or he just watched a Sylvester Stallone movie marathon.

America must achieve total energy independence through an emergency crash program funded in the defense budget as a vital national security priority.

If the traitors in congress won't approve the funding then they must be removed.

Israel must either kill 400,000 arabs in proper retaliation for the murder of 400 innocent Israelis or kick them all out of Israel. These puny little pathetic tit for tat retaliatory strikes will accomplish nothing except to put the arabs on the road to exterminating the Jews in Israel.

"A Palestinian official said Arafat's life was in jeopardy."

Well, let us examine this closely. The Israelis opened fire on Arafat's personal offices, and the official said that Arafat's life was in danger. Ok, that works.

I've been suspecting all along that the Israelis are better shots than the PLA's. Of course, how good do you have to be to pick off a stupid dork like the one in the picture?? I hope the IDF forces are using head shots. One bullet, one kill. Very efficient. At that close range, there shouldn't be too much problem with shots going wide. "Aim Small, Miss Small..."
