SUMMARY: A 17-year-old Denver girl was viciously slashed Tuesday afternoon, and the word "dyke" was carved into her forearm with a razor.
A 17-year-old Denver girl was viciously slashed Tuesday afternoon, and the word "dyke" was carved into her forearm with a razor, media outlets in Colorado report.
According to the Rocky Mountain News and ABC News, April Mora was walking to a store through an alley near her house at about 2 p.m. Tuesday, when she encountered three teen-age white males in a black Honda. When Mora stopped to look at the car, the teens began calling her "dyke" and hazing her, and Mora gave the passengers a dirty look. The driver then pulled over, and two of the teens got out and dragged Mora to the ground, one holding a knife to her throat.
"Two guys got out of the car, and (one) held me down, while the other guy was cutting something in me," Mora told ABC. "The driver was yelling stuff to them and telling them what to do."
Mora's face was repeatedly slashed, and the letters "RIP" were cut into her stomach. When she screamed, the Rocky Mountain News reports, one of the men flicked her tongue with the blade. The boy with the knife said: "You're lucky we don't rape you."
After awhile, the driver called the others back into the car, leaving Mora face down and covered with blood. Mora, who lives with her girlfriend's family, made her way home, where the Quintana family called an ambulance.
According to Denise de Percin, head of the Colorado Anti-Violence Program, Mora was released and is not in any danger of losing her life. Although the wounds may have been skin-deep, they were extensive and frightening to experience. A photo in the Rocky Mountain News shows the face of an attractive young woman, with close cropped hair, and numerous red welts across her forehead and cheeks.
"I was scared," Mora told the News. "I didn't know what these guys were going to do."
Although the Mora attack was unusual, de Percin said that violence against gay and lesbian youth is common in Colorado, as in fact it is everywhere. The state has been the scene of two high-profile crimes, the murder of Fred Martinez Jr., and the assault on Kyle Skyock in Rifle.
Last January, de Percin reports, 16-year-old Kapree Brown of Denver was beaten up by over a dozen assailants. "People beat you up and leave physical scars," said Brown. "But when it's because of who you are, it's the emotional scars that stay with you forever."

You could certainly have interpreted that way, if you chose. But is it accurate? What, then, in his followup posts supports that interpretation? I believe that his comments such as " Yes, I do have a bias against piercing anywhere other than the female earlobe. So what?" and " It was her decision to change her appearance outside the norm, not mine." tend to support my understanding of his comment moreso than yours. His observation was a value judgement based on his own tastes.

A logical fallacy to present a relevant sampling of examples to reinforce an assertion? I think he makes a for a far more convincing argument than the logical flatulence you've contributed to this discussion. Pointless tangents about the aesthetic relativity of a wandering pierce hole hardly springboard easily into the issue of wether or not this "girl" in question can be trusted with this story.
And it further distracts from the much more interesting issue about why it is acceptable for these slanders to be foisted on the innocent shoulders of an entire race and gender...but I guess we can still yammer on about wether or not a hole in the head is attractive or self-mutilation.
You know, I'll bet the word "Dyke" carved in her arm was originally meant as a badge of honor!
If you can't comprehend the distinction between location and degree then this debate is pointless. But, I think you are more intelligent than that. You just refuse to concede the point because you subscribe to the 'norm' that says you are 'wrong' if you do: i.e you're stubborn.
Anyway, you're posts are getting a bit vitreolic, and there's no sense letting something so trivial create bad blood while our freedom is under attack.
Besides, I'm getting bored...
The wife is pulling me away from the keyboard by the floppy part of my ear.
Good night and best regards
Om Ivy League and other college campuses, lesbianism is touted, encouraged, and made to seem " glamorous " and " normal " . Many Hetero girls play around with it for years; soooooo, it isn't somehing that ALL lesbians are born too.
What almost EVERYONE , in ths thread, is saying is that dollars to doughnuts, this is a SELF INFLICTED maiming ; and it IS ! Have you ever seen pictures of an actual slash attack ? I have and this is NOTHING like it. This girl has VERY minor cuts; barely skin deep . The word dyke, is written in a place and in such a way, that she could easily have written it . This happened at 2 in the afternoon, and nobody saw it? She didn't scream ? She didn't fight back ? She claims to have stopped walking to stare at the MOVING car, and suddenly three of the four people in the car, whom she says had knives, but the report says the marks were done with RAZOR BLADES jump out and slash her for no reason. Then, to top i all off, she won't take a lie detector test, this is the THIRD time this has happened to her, and YOU find it plausable ? WHY ? Haven't you ever heard of Tawana Brawley ? Haven't you ever read, on FR, about the several other cases of FRAUD , concerning race attacks ; which had self written slurs ?
Don't go off on a topic, which you cleraly haven't a clue about, just to make yourself " feel " oh so much more enlightened, than other FREEPERS and GOD .
Let's recap. In direct response to Travis question, I said:
Razz- (post 127)Which of course, is what I found objectionable about the post: the implication that anyone who has a piercing or tattoo is prone to slicing themselves up with a razor. A ridiculous implication if one gives any thought to the matter. More likely a reflection of the poster's own bias against piercings anywhere other than the female earRazz - (post 155) My point is that altair or whatever his name is, was making a sweeping, generalized value judgement simply because this woman's body decorations run counter to his own tastes.
altair (post 187) Yes, I do have a bias against piercing anywhere other than the female earlobe. So what?
Only the willingly blind can dismiss the facts. If you want to jump into an argument, you should at least understand what is being discussed. If you don't like the topic, don't post. If Travis didn't want an answer to his question, he shouldn't have asked.
As for the truthfulness of the woman's story ... well, since there's not a single post I see of anyone who believes her ... but, by all means, I'll let your holiness have the thread, free of my presence.
I don't think that any attacks are to be condoned, but it appears as though she's faking it, all the while trying to blame the white male of America.
Actually , I know quite a few, other familial and nonfamilial females, with NO piercings whatsoever. No tatoos either. We aren't Amish, nor any other unusual religion .
The " WILDING " was vicious , repeated rapes and brutal beatings ... without slashings. They beat that woman's head in with a HUGE rock , kicked her repeatedly, punched her and raped her. NO SLASHINGS !
