``She beats the polygraph and now we're going to use a polygraph to assess the damage? It's utterly, unbelievably stupid.''

You don't have to be a trained spy to beat a polygraph test: anyone can do it. To find out how, see AntiPolygraph.org's free on-line book, The Lie Behind the Lie Detector.

Relying on polygraphs is indeed utterly, unbelievably, stupid.

This is reasonable because they received an exemption authorization from the INS,
signed by Osama Atta.

All polygraphs do is measure stress, the theory being that if your lying your stress level goes up. If your the type that stays so cool butter won't melt in your mouth, you pass the polygraph.

FYI: I once had a situation where several employees were suspected of theft. I sannounced and scheduled everyone in the small company for a polygraph. Everyone passed!

Then one of my secretaries commented "They beat it". She said that they knew when it was coming, they smoked a little grass and they beat it. A few days later I scheduled an un-announced exam and the two prime suspects were declared "deceptive".

Not necessarily. You could still fail or come up inconclusive. The key to passing is to ensure that your physiological responses to the so-called "control" questions are stronger than your reactions to the relevant questions. You can be nervous and heck and still pass by covertly augmenting your reactions to the "control" questions.

Very few people understand how truth vs. deception is actually inferred during a polygraph "test," and what the difference between a "control" question and a relevant question is. But you'll find it all explained in The Lie Behind the Lie Detector, (a free download).

I think she should be sent to Cuba. Camp X-Ray that is. I've tried to find a pic of this wench with no luck. I would what caused her to flip. I'll suggest it was sex. The commies probably sent Rico Suave over to sex her up.

Does your guide to beating the polygraph deal with the key to the examination, which is the qualifications and investigational experience of the polygraphist?

It should be pointed out that regardless of the polygraphists' qualifications and experience as an investigator, polygraphy remains junk science. AntiPolygraph.org's guide to polygraph countermeasures (at Chapter 4 of The Lie Behind the Lie Detector) is based on an understanding of how polygraph charts are scored as well as the various "behavioral symptoms" that the polygraph community hold to be associated with deception and truth-telling.

One could do as well with a ouija board, perhaps better. Chewing dry rice is an ancient Chinese lie-detecting method, almost as good. (The idea is that your mouth goes dry when lying.)

She apparently was opposed to U.S. policy toward Cuba and thought of herself as "helping the Cuban people." The only financial compensation she reportedly received from the Cuban government for her espionage is reimbursement for some of her espionage-related expenses.

The other night I heard on the Laura Ingram show that FBI spy Robert Hanson punched a polygrapher in the face. A fight ensued and the guards had to break the two up. A new polygrapher has been assigned to deal with Hanson.

Well, that's what they get for not cross-checking against the tea leaves and the goat entrails....

Of course, nothing works against someone who is habituated to lying and does it without a second thought. We've all heard of people like that.

Polygraphs are great for getting admissions/confessions from people who don't understand that polygraphy is a fraud. But polygraph "testing" has no scientific basis at all. Not surprisingly, it has not been proven by peer-reviewed scientific research to differentiate between truth and deception at better than chance levels of accuracy under field conditions.
