HEADGATE NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wed Mar 27 09:21:48 2002
198.81.16.33
All,
Just talked to Jim Bryant Chief, Division of Water and Lands at BOR and here's what he said:
Gail Norton, Ann Vennamen, and Gordon Smith will be here Friday March 29th to officially open the headgates. The press release that Jim had from DOI said that all will happen between 9:30 to 10:45 AM.
I checked the DOI website for the press release and it hasn't been posted yet. Will let you know more as I learn it.
Whenever we find an article like this we need to link it to our growing group!
Amen! ;-}
I suggest -- seriously -- that you lurk for a much longer time before you start impaling yourself with your own remarks. You're such a newbie, you've still got your price tags on. (People will look, and they will make an issue of it. I guarantee it.) While you're still newbie-meat (I'm not exactly growing cobwebs either, so I know!), find topics where you can post in agreement rather than disagreement. There's a certain "style" to FR, and you really, really need to learn it. Trust me on this one!
Good luck and God bless!
I don't eat sucker fish, but I enjoy catching them. I throw them on the bank and watch them suffocate and laugh. Sometimes I take them home and use them as garden fertilizer. The only good sucker fish is a dead one.
To be sure, this is happening because a relatively small group of people were willing to risk all and put it on the line in the face of blatant regulatory and governmental/political tyranny ... and then a gracious Father in Heaven ansered their and many others petition to Him.
The ranchers and farmers should not settle for the status quo. Now is the time to push for a full living up to the original terms of the project and having the headgstes and intire irrigation delivery system taken out of federal/governmental hands and turned over to the farmers/ranchers.
Regretably, I am in Eastrern Idaho tonight and tomorrow. Was in Montana all week, am in Idaho Falls tonight and have to be in Wendell at 6:00 PM tomorrow. I thought the opening was next week and would dearly love to be there but cannot possibly make it tomorrow.
Give me congratualtions, support and feeling to all there Rocky ... Joey, Barron, Barabara, Bill, James, Gavin, Grant, Bob and the many, many others, too numerous to name. Tell them I ish I could have been there to emjoy this moment with them ... tell them to keep fighting and again not settle for the status quo.
Sean, hope you can be there ... you too AuntB and Dave, and anyone who can.
Regards to all, and thank God in Heaven and those brave souls whose willingness to stand made this much progress possible.
Out of time ... gotta go.
Sadly......I'm going to have to agree with you.
It's not over yet........the farmers have only won round 2.

But...we can't let our guard down for one second.
Because the Administration that is "giving the water back"...is the same Administration that took it away to begin with.
The very same question remains...WHO owns the water in Klamath Basin????

I shudder to think what would have happened to those families if you and other freepers had not got involved.
I will not be able to make it. We host a big Easter early dinner after the Easter Services. We will have about 20 family, friends, our priest and his family. If I went to KFall's this weekend, I would have to stay there with the sucker fish.
Happy Easter and God Bless you and your family!
I think that Oregon still pays a bounty if you kill most species of sucker fish and bring them in for the bounty. I can't think of a worse way to make money.
Yep, we dined on salmon wednesday night, bambi steaks last night and will have brown eyed lamb Easter as we host at least 20 family members and friends! We might just have salmon again this Saturday night!
Your words/descriptions for the dimensions shown by the Freepers on this issue, say it all:
Persistance, Strength and Community!
Before Free Republic, conservatives had no real place to identify a problem like Aunt B did and to respond to it like Jeff, Sean and others did. Then, Jim Robbinson enabled us to be persistant ( I call it tenacity) to raise the level of awareness of the crimes being commited by the enviral Nazis on those innocent farm and ranch families in the name of a sucker fish.
The community of Free Republic saw the problem and responded until this reversal of the Green Nazi Rural Cleansing attempt.
The lawsuits have already started. Andy Kerr and the ONRC is suing three Klamath Basin irrigation districts fo discharging an aquatic herbicied into PUBLIC CANALS, an alleged vionation of the federal Clean Water Act. Firstly, these aren't PUBLIC CANALS...they are owned by the farmers...but let's not start that again today.....and secondly this herbicide (acrolein) has been regularly applied in our irrigation canals. This herbicide is used to kill unwated vegetation. It is also toxic to fish. Now, let me say something about fish....I was born and raised here and the biggest fish I've EVER seen in the canals were minnows. Fish in the canal system will die anyway....no where to go...but they just don't get into it. This herbicide is necessary to keep the system (all 400 miles of it) from clogging equipment and pipes....that's just the way it is. This is the FIRST of many lawsuits we expect in the next few weeks....the Nature Nazis have the money to keep them in the courts while we farmers go under struggling to keep our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness alive.
I'm going in front of the cameras today if I get a chance to ask Gale if she'll be here to close the gates...with full media attention, like she's here to open them!!! I predict it's gonna happen!
I'm off to the headgates and fellow AMERICAN PATRIOTS....you'll all be in my thoughts and on my lips as often as anyone will listen. It's sunny, clear, and will be in the 60s...a nice day in the Klamath Basin.
No pics from Bunker- I'm sure Aunt B will accomodate when she gets hooked up.
