I think it would be nice to collect a list of all of the things President Bush has accomplished thus far in his term. In an effort to provide FAIR and BALANCED coverage to President Bush's administration, I thought interested Freepers could post accomplishments, both large and small, which they appreciate.
Please do not hesitate to list EO's, roll-backs of EO's, regulation changes with which you are familiar, etc.
All positive accomplishments are welcome. If you have negative comments, please post them on the other thread. Thank you.
Obviously you don't.
You did not vote for Bush so you are not betrayed.
A lie...or gross ignorance talking about things you know nothing of.
Get over it...
I don't get over attacks on the Bill of Rights...sorry.
...and take your crocodile tears elsewhere.
I've heard similiar comments from defenders of the President's action repeatedly tonight. Sorry. If defenders of the Constitution are driven from this place, it will be nothing but a wasteland of mindless socialist drivel...not worth anyone's time.
You are not "incensed" you are delighted.
How in the h*ll would you know? Again, you don't know what you're talking about.
This, in your mind, is Bush's Waterloo and are having the time of your life. You are as transparent as glass.
I would hardly rejoice at the President's political demise. If you knew me, you would know that. But obviously you aren't interested in the facts of the matter.
Then why are you so loudly asking for it?
Go read numerous posts and threads on FR.
Then get out a little.
FReepers particularly, and conservatives in general, have been fighting their hearts out against this CFR cr*p for months. Where have you been?
He signed it, not me. The damage is already done. My pointing it out isn't going to change a thing now.
Big difference in fighting CFR and abandoning the Bush. I know that is hard for a "my way or the highway" self described conservative but that's the facts. The political purists always over estimate their political clout and influence. You would think they would finally realize why they NEVER gain political clout and influence.
Who says he's a sore loser? Who says he just couldn't give John McCain his moment in the Rose Garden, a ceremonial signing of the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform bill? Who says he would rather look petty than go through the gripping and grinning and pen-handling that a White House ceremony entails?
Who? Just about everybody, after George Bush dashed off his signature between bouts on Iraq with Condoleezza Rice and the vice president. Then he dashed off to raise funds.
McCain got a call at 7 a.m. at his Arizona home from a junior White House aide whose name he didn't know, telling him the bill had been signed. Later, a White House emissary brought to his office a commemorative pen and a note of congratulation. McCain issued a statement striking for its terseness: "I'm pleased that President Bush has signed campaign reform legislation into law."
Perhaps Bush was playing, as he so often does, to his right wing, which hates McCain, foams at his bill and deplores his lack of deference to Bush. They attribute McCain's insubordination to the fact that he "never got over South Carolina" -- the state where Bush effectively ended McCain's White House hopes.
The right wing is not moved by the sight of magnanimity and bipartisanship. Right-wingers thought Bush was right to call the bill "flawed" the day it passed the Senate.
One of these days we will say we knew you when.
Actually -- and I mean this with all sincerity -- this place will always be my home, and all of you will be like family to me =^) That'll never change.
Please send this to Rush he has been so upset.
I might just do that =^)
Actually -- and I mean this with all sincerity -- this place will always be my home, and all of you will [ALWAYS] be like family to me =^) That'll never change.
You have made several nasty comments to me...comments that do nothing but show your ignorance of me and my positions. Now you say I'm abandoning Bush? I never said I was abandoning him.
If you will read a little more carefully, you will find that I have been decrying the damage that this is doing to the GOP. You might want to think about that a little deeper. If you would, you would realize that I care about the success of the President...and the Party that many have worked so hard to build into the majority party in this country.
I know that is hard for a "my way or the highway" self described conservative but that's the facts. The political purists always over estimate their political clout and influence. You would think they would finally realize why they NEVER gain political clout and influence.
If the people that believe in the principles of this site are what you describe...then there is no hope for this country.
If the political whores and hacks are the only possible winners, as your comment would suggest, then the Republic so many have given it all for is done.
The fact that people like you are running my Party, and my country, and my Bill of Rights, and my children's future, makes me sick to my stomach.
Then may I borrow YOUR bill of rights or YOUR country or YOUR party? You seem to have no problems with self-esteem, reality maybe but not your opinion of yourself.
Is that Principled? Is that what is good for our Nation? Is that Constitutional, or do you not care?
I wonder if any of you actually understand the dire situation that our country is in, and how we have limited time if we are to put the brakes on the collision that is about to occur.
Culturally speaking, we are being invaded by hordes of illegal Mexicans, as well as numerous other nationalities moving in from the south. These are not Legal Residents, and the tide is so great that they will not assimilate, not to mention the fact that many resent our country.
Economically, our nation is in shambles, much to do with high taxation, government waste, unnecessary agencies, etc. It's so out of control that it's quite possible we'll be bankrupt within ten years. What about Social Security? How are we going to pay for that with a Boomer Generation getting ever-closer to retirement. Social Security ran afoul when the government started robbing the caufers, and now we're left with a form of socialism and taxation to deal with it. It's a pyramid scheme, and it will ultimately collapse. Some claim that this is why illegal immigration isn't dealt with seriously. However, is it worth the social services, the higher taxes, the more costs as opposed to benefits, a balkanized America, friction, chaos, more debt, etc.? The true solution would be less government through less spending. However, Washington is too stupid to think of that, for everyone has to protect their own little UnConstitutional alphabet agency, and they have the attorneys and special interest groups to represent them.
What about the fact that Bush caved on stem-cell research. I know, you claim that compromise was necessary, but on moral decisions such as this, no it is not.
What about his appointments of two homosexuals to his cabinet. One as an Aids Czar, and another as Ambassador to Canada?
What about CFR? I know, I know, you probably believe that it's part of W's plan. Who cares? The Constitution exists for a reason. It isn't designed to be toyed with, manipulated, etc. That is the work of a rabid Leftist. A "Conservative" should be more dignified. Furthermore, as whacked-out as the Supreme Court has been, with many of the justices ascribing to the secular humanist world view, there's a chance that this will not be thrown out. Even if it is, why take the chance? It's too risky, and it reflects a lack of principle.
What about Bush claiming that he will not let "his view" on abortion dictate whether an appointment to the supreme court will be Pro-Life or Pro-Infanticide? Is this a Conservative marker?
What about the massive federal control of education bill that Bush signed? What about the out-of-control federal spending (even without the war)?
Don't you see, our country is being ripped apart on the Spiritual, Economic, Cultural, Constitutional, and Governmental fronts (tyranny). George W. has helped contribute to the decline. Can't you see it? It's so obvious, yet you continue to talk about the "Good things he has done". Most of the "good that W. has done" is nothing more than inaction on a few extremely Socialist/Communist policies. That is, he's said no to them. That maintains the status quo, in the sense, that we don't move further into tyranny. However, most of what he has done and openly promoted is UnConstitutional (CFR, Education, Amnesty), or it is a severe lack of good judgement.
Bush is leaving the Conservatives who truly wanted to weed out the corruption. Yet, he's abandoning his base and is supporting Pro-Big Government, Pro-Left Wing, and Pro-Tyranny policies.
Again, why is it so hard to see?
Republicans may be a little better than Democrats as far as local races go. However, on the national scale, there is not much difference. You have to analyze the individual, not the party.
Merit should be the only credential.
You proved yourself to be a guttermouth.
Oh, and another point. It must make you feel good using the trendy word of "Xenophobic", a word of which was rarely used a few years ago. Now, anyone's a Xenophobe who doesn't go along with open borders, "Free" trade, diversity, etc. It's all an effort to weaken our resolve.
Arne, don't be overcome with hatred.
Can you explain to me why this matters? Isn't merit the objective, not Affirmative Action, of which you seem to imply is great. Oh yeah, anyone but white men. To me, this is hateful towards white men, for you are singleing them out as the individuals who aren't deserving of "diversity" status. Please, MERIT. Affirmative Action is a Left-Wing goal. It's a very perverse one.
