The Official Bush Accomplishment List
Miss Marple | March 27, 2002 | Miss Marple

Posted on 03/27/2002 9:22:46 AM PST by Miss Marple

I think it would be nice to collect a list of all of the things President Bush has accomplished thus far in his term. In an effort to provide FAIR and BALANCED coverage to President Bush's administration, I thought interested Freepers could post accomplishments, both large and small, which they appreciate.

Please do not hesitate to list EO's, roll-backs of EO's, regulation changes with which you are familiar, etc.

All positive accomplishments are welcome. If you have negative comments, please post them on the other thread. Thank you.

Thanks for the add on. I mentioned North Korea and Iraq, I think, but not the defining of evil again in our national dialogue.

There are so many, Miss Marple.

I would like to add a not insignificant point for the women of Afghanistan and the Christians worldwide...President Bush not only walks the walk, he means it and they know this. N. Koreans living in horrendous conditions today cheered the President's calling their country "evil"...knowing that finally a leader didn't buy the communist 'dog and pony show' offered to visitors (like Albright).

Tort reform, kicking out the Nag advisors and ABA, paycheck protection and Beck, National Day of Prayer, John Ashcroft, that first pitch of the World series after 9-11, the incredible speech to the world putting every terrorist nation on notice and encouraging a frightened nation, the arm around the weary firefighter at WTC "I can hear you!", knowing the hymns by heart and 'death, where is your victory' sermon at the church, hosting the Boy Scouts, knowing how important it is to unite the nation at war...being able to forgive his enemies in DC for a higher cause, actually repeating the golden rule to Americans in cities around the nation....for rising above the corrupt and banal "games" and divisiveness and making us a better nation...even if only for a short while.

I'll say this:

I'm no socialist. I've just learned from watching the mistakes made in 1995. Frontal assaults when the opposition controls the air are suicidal, both politically and in the military sense.

We have to fight smart, and that means we have to pick our fights given the close margins we have.

Thanks for the thread and hang in there. Most of my life has been looking at the glass as half full because life is not nirvana. With president Bush my glass is more than half full and that is sweet because with our prior experience the glass had only bile left in the bottom...

Yes, I am. It's puzzling, but they don't seem to understand that there are TWO threads, on positive (this one) and one negative (TO WHICH I PROVIDED A LINK).

I guess they have short attention spans and can't follow simple instructions.

This is a trait I will file away for later use.

It's nice that they keep bumping the thread while the negative list doesn't get many hits......

Another accomplishment is he's succeeded in getting the discussion going and by all accounts there should be a record turnout in the next two elections... Especially in 04 to vote against him... So he's definetly got peoples attention and interest in participating in the election process. Now that in itself is a big accomplishment.....

May I add this to the list?

His job approval rating is staying high and it's not because of Monica Lewinsky.

Bump.

You are a humanitarian

I am. You should try it some time. Melt that ice around your heart and remove those blinders from your eyes. And get that hate out of your system. Its a wonderful world and I hope some day you'll appreciate it's diversity.

Please take the racist and xenophobic comments elsewhere. I have specifically asked hat this thread be for ACCOMPLISHMENTS, and if you want to post negative things, go to the Official Bush Cave List that Jhoffa posted, to which this is a response.

In any case, I do not want those comments about groups that you dislike here on this thread.

1. I don't follow your 'directions' or 'instructions'.

2. This is 'Free' Republic. Attempting to silence the opposition seems to be a trait you share with John McCain and Co.

3. Your misdirection ploy (this thread intended to take the focus off the fact that the President today took an action deplored by about 85% of the Republican Party and most FReepers) is clever, but ultimately will prove fruitless.

4. You didn't answer my question. Why is is cowardly for Congressmen to cave to pressure to support this bill (your words, not mine), but it is not cowardly for the President to sign selfsame bill?

5. What part of "Congress shall pass no law abridging freedom of speech" don't you get?

6. What would the President have to do to make you angry?

7. Have I or have I not warned you and others repeatedly in the last months about the damage that would be done to the base of our party by the passage of this bill, and is it or is it not coming to pass today in front of your very eyes?

If I seem overly harsh, I'm sorry...but I'm incensed. This threatens to undercut the hard work of many for the sake of appeasing Democrats and the Press...but I repeat myself.

I like his style! He prays and studies the Bible, consults with experts on the problem at hand, gives consideration to everyone - even his enemies, analyzes the consequences thoroughly and then tries to do the right thing.

I am upset over the CFR signing although I can understand the rationale. I also think the Byrd ad and the affect on Bush at the last minute of his long campaign has some input in his decision.

The wise stem cell decision.

The team chosen to lead this country.

The integrity, the honor, the class he has brought to the presidency and the trust he has generated.

His faith and the naturalness of expressing it provides a wonderful example to our young.

His clarity of right and wrong and his ability to tackle a possible unsolvable problem rather than pushing it aside and playing politics.

His strength, courage and resolve to act when others would have cowered. His patience and his ability to pull a victory from an onslaught from his enemies.

The faith ministry and the realization that God in the picture works where other government programs do not.

The U.N. stance to take the control of aid distribution into American hands and determine that only citizen elected countries will get aid. No more of our money to terrorist training nations.

His efforts on turning around excessive environmental tactics - Klamath Falls water, ANWR drilling, the decision that environmental claims must be based on sound science.

And much, much more. Thanks for making me look at the positive.

While I agree with many of the accomplishments listed in this thread, I don't see how can you list Ashcroft as an accomplishment when Ashcroft has behaved no different than Reno when it comes to the serious crimes the Clintons, DNC and their democRAT staffers committed the last 9 years. Ashcroft can't even be bothered to INVESTIGATE the crimes ... not even matters like the Riady non-refund where clearly Riady or the democRATS broke the law and proving which would be easy. And since the Riady non-refund concerns a serious violation of campaign finance laws, this perhaps shows that Bush's statement of support for campaign finance reform is nothing but a lie. He knows the democRATS will break those laws and doesn't care?
