The Official Bush Accomplishment List
Miss Marple | March 27, 2002 | Miss Marple

Posted on 03/27/2002 9:22:46 AM PST by Miss Marple

I think it would be nice to collect a list of all of the things President Bush has accomplished thus far in his term. In an effort to provide FAIR and BALANCED coverage to President Bush's administration, I thought interested Freepers could post accomplishments, both large and small, which they appreciate.

Please do not hesitate to list EO's, roll-backs of EO's, regulation changes with which you are familiar, etc.

All positive accomplishments are welcome. If you have negative comments, please post them on the other thread. Thank you.

I believe that if you'll read this thread, you will be able to see several places where I have said things that were in support of Bush. I make my criticisms on the merits and try to be fair when I do it. The only reason I am still on this thread is that I am trying to address people who have made comments to me.

What do you think runs this country? You have to deal with politics or you'll have no input at all.

A conservative with no political office is Alan Keyes, who has NO power over anything. He is of no use to anybody.

- Federal funding for stem cell research
- One of the largest increases in education spending in history
- Struck a 1-2 blow against freedom with the Office of Homeland Security and the Patriot Act
- Signing of the Incumbent Protection Act (a.k.a. Campaign Finance Reform)

How's that for starters?

I must disagree with you there, at least for the long term. Ideas are important and are a large part of what ultimately fuels political actions.

How about his brilliant gambit of signing the CFR into law so that his friends in the NRA could immediately challenge it in court, maintaining his political capital while simultaneously watching this law declared unconstitutional once and for all by the courts.......Whew!

Let me preface this by saying that I have been an ardent supporter of Bush. But personally, I would phrase that a little differently. How about saying it this way:

He entered into a criminal conspiracy, violating United States Codes 241 & 242 under Title 18, cementing his legacy as just another criminal conspirator in the Oral Office who will go unpunished for his crimes against the citizens of the United States.

Read for yourself and decide if violating the rights guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution is a "brilliant gambit" or a crime punishable by up to life imprisonment:

UNITED STATES CODE
TITLE 18 - CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE
PART I - CRIMES
CHAPTER 13 - CIVIL RIGHTS
§ 241. Conspiracy against rights
If two or more persons conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any inhabitant of any State, Territory, or District in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of his having so exercised the same; or If two or more persons go in disguise on the highway, or on the premises of another, with intent to prevent or hinder his free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege so secured - They shall be fined not more than $10,000 or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results, they shall be subject to imprisonment for any term of years or for life.

§ 242. Deprivation of rights under color of law Whoever, under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, willfully subjects any inhabitant of any State, Territory, or District to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or to different punishments, pains, or penalties, on account of such inhabitant being an alien, or by reason of his color, or race, than are prescribed for the punishment of citizens, shall be fined not more than $1,000 or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if bodily injury results shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results shall be subject to imprisonment for any term of years or for life.

I see everyone starting to pull out their flamethrowers, time to slip on my fire resistent Fruit of the Looms.

I believe that both sides need to be objective.  I think it's fair for both sides to call the other when they go over the line.

And I think it's useful to us who aren't "on' either side to have them create lists of what he's done right and what he's done wrong. So I wish the Bush-bashers would stop disrupting the Bush fans' project, and vice versa.

The difference between a principled man who does not hold office, and an unprincipled man who does, is that the unprincipled man who holds office, has the power to contribute to the destruction of the republic.

I'll stick with my principles.

You can have your politics.

See what it gets you.

Yes, I like that one too. I like how he called North Korea one of the "Axis of Evil" and then threatened them...

And then waived their violations of the Nuclear Reactor treaty so that he could give them some more money.

Ya saw that, did you? I haven't been back there to see the witty (barf) comments made back at me.

GW? Well, gosh, where do I start? The first and foremost in my mind and heart is the dignity he's brought back to the Office of Presidency. I don't have to cringe each time the news talks about him, if my little guy is in the room. And folks, that says a lot. After those other 2 pigs that lived in our White House......

Tax Cuts

The War!!!!

His faith in God

His love and respect for his wife, who, btw, he wouldn't do anything politically that would hurt HER, now would he??????

Man....there's so many. Copy all the good ones from this thread....and that's where I stand.

1. The tax cut

That's outright offensive. $300 back and I have paid thousands upon thousands. Pathetic.

It isn't over, so it shouldn't be counted as an accomplishment yet...
Besides, what else has he accomplished with it, other than bombing a stone age country back into the earlier stone age.
The $$ is still flowing into the terrorists...not one of their leaders is in custody, or even dead...

I can keep the channel on when GWB appears on the TV screen, without suffering an intense rush of nausea.

That's an improvement over the previous occupant.
