Time to make an example of a CFR RINO!!!!!! Here's how.

Today sucks. CFR has been signed by Bush, and the RINOS and RATS got a big win. Now, I am PO'ed, and hoping for the courts to do the right thing, which is NEVER a 100% sure thing.

I say it's time for some paybacks.

I'm not a rich man. I do not have a lot of money, but one of the biggest RINO's, is a guy named Fred Upton, a congresscritter from Southwest Michigan. He is from a GOP leaning seat that went for Bush and has some strong conservative areas. Upton is pro-abort, voted for CFR, and is a real gun grabber as well. MCRGO will not endorse him, and the NRA didn't endorse him either.

Upton has a PRIMARY challenge from a strong conservative. Current State Senator Dale Shugars. In fact, he's almost too conservative for me on some issues. I'll take that over a RINO any day of the week. He's 100% pro-gun and pro-life. He RIPPED Upton for his CFR vote. This guy was a very good state senator in my state, and will be a good congressman as well. He has experience. He also CAN WIN.

I can not vote for him since I do not live in his district. I do not work for his campaign. This is strictly on an issues basis here, and not a personal favor.

I have just written a $25 check as of RIGHT NOW to this campaign. I encourage all the freepers PO'ed about CFR to do the same. We can make an example out of Fred Upton. This is a tough race, but winnable, especially in a primary. Good luck to Dale Shugars.

We should start a fund -- get some big cash from some big conservatives -- to elected good guys (and ladies) and defeat the bad guys (and ladies) in the fall.

The elections this November are going to be CRITICAL.

In fact, the PRIMARIES are going to be important this year.

AUGUST 6 IN MICHIGAN -- PRIMARY ELECTION DAY -- CIRCLE YOUR CALENDARS.

Why pick on Shugars?

President Bush was the last line of defense before the unconstitutional CFR Law goes to THE NINE SUPREMES. He is the one who betrayed his pledge to defend the U. S. Constitution.

Might the "W" in his name just possibly stand for Waffle?

I met Rep. Shugars at CPAC and was very impressed. ReaganGirl, thanks for pointing us towards Patriot PAC and the CFG. They're the only hope as now Upton is in full war mode. He's calling all the corporate offices and association PAC reps around town and telling them not to give Shugars a dime. Hey, he regulates a lot of industries from the Energy & Commerce Committee so this isn't an empty threat. Poor Shugars is getting a lot of doors slammed in his face by gutless corporate hacks, so he's really up against the wall. He's counting on the grassroots and if we let his funds dry up, we might as well just raise a white flag. Decent candidates won't bother challenging RINOs if they're hung out to dry.

I was making a joke. I'm well aware of how the new law reads and HIGHLY recommend budling as opposed to starting a new PAC. That's why I recommended in my first post that if Freepers really want to make an impact as well as establish that we are a financeal force in the political arena we should bundle our cheks through Club for Growth. I give almost all my pol contributions to CFG or Patriot PAC.

I'll tell you why we can pick on Upton(Shugars is the good guy).

1. Sends a message that RINOS in conservative areas can get beat and are accountable to his base.
2. He's soft on the life issue
3. He voted for CFR
4. He is downright Anti 2nd amendment.
5. We have a shot at taking this guy out.
6. If Shugars wins, it sends a message to Bush, Racicot, the bigwigs, etc, that our base is not to be taken for granted.
7. We have to fight smart. Shugars is NOT a lightweight. He's won a fairly tough district(Kalamazoo County) at least twice. This is a swing area. He is running in an area more conservative than the area he represents now. We can win this battle.
8. I'll worry about Bush in 2004. The best thing to do now is take out someone like Upton, and then send a message to all the reps that votes against the 1st and 2nd amendments like this can not be tolerated.

I'd love to see Club for Growth come through here. MCRGO can do a lot, but our PAC isn't big enough with all the races we have. We can GOTV though. All the big names statewide want our(MCRGO) support.

1. The Primary is in our favor. The dems have their own primary. Since split ticket primaries are illegal in Michigan, the dems from Benton Harbor and the city of Kalamazoo have to skip the governor race if they want to vote for Upton. Ain't gonna happen. This gives us a chance.

2. Shugars comes from the most populous county in the district. Kalmazoo County. The congressional seat is more conservative than his state senate district(about 50/50 dem gop). They know him and like him. Allegan county is new to the district and is the 2nd most GOP county in the state %wise. Lots of Dutch Calvinists out in that area. The only problem he has is name recognition, and that can be taken care of since he is experienced, has a record, and already is known in K-zoo.

3. MCRGO, NRA, Right to Life. RTL is going to back Shugars. As for MCRGO, we reward our friends(and Shugars has a 100% pro-2a record). MCRGO and NRA are joined at the hip in Michigan. We'll do our part here. Let's see here....a couple of townhall meetings this summer in Kalamazoo and one in Berrien County(Upton's home) sound nice. An NRA mailing, and MCRGO newsletter comparing the gun records this late July and early August. That can get the message out to our guys. MCRGO's annual meeting is June 1st, and we are expecting 1300 people there. There won't be too many friends of Upton there. The meeting is in Lansing, but people from all across the state will be there.

4. Money (and the media) is our only main weakness. Upton knows he's in a fight, and wants to stop this from happening. He knows that NRA, MCRGO, and RTL are going to give him a fight. That's why I posted this and why I sent my check in.

I like our chances. When the gun groups and pro-lifers go after someone in a GOP primary, it makes the opponent's race a nightmare. I think if Club for Growth and other conservative groups jump in here, than the race is ours. The gun issue is still hot in Michigan. The pro-life issue is always big. I don't know all Upton's tax votes, but maybe he can get bit there too.

This race is VERY winnable.

In addition to sending a check to Shugar, I am also notifying Upton of my financial support of Shugar even tho I am not in his district. Also letting him know that RINO's may be on the endangered species list they are now my targets.....

Upton knows he's in a fight...

I agree, Dan. Although he's not in panic mode, he is beginning to sweat a little.

Check out some quotes from the South Bend Trib on RINO Freddie's campaign kickoff:

Upton kicks off re-election run

GOP congressman seeks 9th term

DOWAGIAC -- U.S. Rep. Fred Upton has an opponent in this Republican year's primary as he runs for re-election to Michigan's 6th Congressional District.

But those in the audiences as he announced his candidacy in a series of stops Tuesday wouldn't have learned that fact if they didn't know it already, because Upton never mentioned state Sen. Dale Shugars by name.

Instead, Upton, 48, a St. Joseph Republican who has served eight consecutive two-year terms in the House of Representatives since 1986, touted his record and conservative credentials.

The hilarious thing is, he's trying to pass himself off as some kind of staunch conservative. Two years ago the guy was proud to be a moderate. Note that Freddie is a close colleague of the excrable Christopher Shays. Now get aload of this:

"As you know, I am today just what I was when you first elected me: a Ronald Reagan Republican ... a conservative committed to lower taxes ... smaller, but better government ...

And you're right, he has some big guns on his side:

The congressman also highlighted a letter of endorsement, one that is from a supporter hard to match: President George W. Bush.
A letter from Bush endorsing Upton praised him for helping to craft and pass tax relief, and for his support in the global war on terrorism. The letter is dated March 22. Upton was joined at his Dowagiac appearance by U.S. Rep. Peter Hoekstra... R-Holland,
Upton sought to stress the importance of homeland security and the need to fight terrorism following the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.
"They want us, every community, to live in fear," Upton said. "But I promise you today, as sure as I'm standing here, this threat will not stand. America will win."
One of Upton's leading causes has been seeking the establishment of a "kids.us" Internet domain, to protect children from pornography and other materials.

So, the stategy seems to be that he'll invoke the name of Reagan, wrap himself in the flag, and tout his initiatives for THE CHILDREN (not that there's anything wrong with fighting pornography, but he only does this when he has to make himself look conservative).

I'm not convinced that a conservative can't win and am not willing to give up every attempt to move congress to the right - even if ever so slightly and bit by bit. Where I live, that's a matter of getting an R elected (or even just to run) over a D.

Shugars made a huge mistake when he tried to introduce a law in the State Senate directed at the election of drain commissioners. The law was written in a very specific way so that it directly applied to our local commie/green drain commissioner with whom Shugars has some sort of beef. I don't like the drain commissioner either, but what Shugars did was real chickensh*t, and struck a lot of people who would be his natural supporters as amateurish and short-sighted.

By the way, the only Democrat I've voted for in the last twenty years or so is whoever is running against Little Freddie Upton.
