Time to make an example of a CFR RINO!!!!!! Here's how.

Today sucks. CFR has been signed by Bush, and the RINOS and RATS got a big win. Now, I am PO'ed, and hoping for the courts to do the right thing, which is NEVER a 100% sure thing.

I say it's time for some paybacks.

I'm not a rich man. I do not have a lot of money, but one of the biggest RINO's, is a guy named Fred Upton, a congresscritter from Southwest Michigan. He is from a GOP leaning seat that went for Bush and has some strong conservative areas. Upton is pro-abort, voted for CFR, and is a real gun grabber as well. MCRGO will not endorse him, and the NRA didn't endorse him either.

Upton has a PRIMARY challenge from a strong conservative. Current State Senator Dale Shugars. In fact, he's almost too conservative for me on some issues. I'll take that over a RINO any day of the week. He's 100% pro-gun and pro-life. He RIPPED Upton for his CFR vote. This guy was a very good state senator in my state, and will be a good congressman as well. He has experience. He also CAN WIN.

I can not vote for him since I do not live in his district. I do not work for his campaign. This is strictly on an issues basis here, and not a personal favor.

I have just written a $25 check as of RIGHT NOW to this campaign. I encourage all the freepers PO'ed about CFR to do the same. We can make an example out of Fred Upton. This is a tough race, but winnable, especially in a primary. Good luck to Dale Shugars.

If Freepers are serious about putting their money where their mouth is I recommend that they bundle their money through Patriot PAC or Club for Growth.

While both are limited in the amount of money that they can donate to candidates from their PAC they are able to "bundle" checks from individuals that are made out directly to the campaign to present to the campaign when they give their PAC check. It makes a real statement to the candidate and to the political system for a PAC to say "here's our check for $5000 and an additional $3000 in bundled checks from the members of FreeRepublic.

It would be a great way to show the strength of FR as a movement that is committed to creating real change.

Something to think about.

RINO = Republican in elected office.

Real Republican = someone who can never win an election.

I changed my registration from Democrat to Republican @ 16 years ago because no elected Democratic officials spoke up for my interests on national security. They were all pro-Communist and anti-American. The next to last straw was when Senator John Glenn endorsed the "nuclear freeze" in his 1984 presidential race. The last straw was when Reagan's UN ambassador, Jean Kirkpatrick, changed her registration from Democrat to Republican for roughly the same reason.

And, when I was a freshman in college in 1968, as chief of the Eugene McCarthy presidential primary campaign in Santa Cruz County, California, I got about 10-20% of all the Republicans in the county to change their registration to Democrat to vote for McCarthy due to their opposition to the Vietnam War. That was the _only_ way they could vote against the Vietnam War, because Reagan was governor and the sole GOP presidential candidate, running as a "favorite son". The re-registration campaign I devised and operated gave Santa Cruz County its first Democratic majority since the Civil War.

Political parties need to be big tents to win - everyone has to feel they have a voice which will be heard, and that some elected officials from their party represent their interests. That way they'll stay in the party and vote for candidates of their party who they disagree with on issues.

But when the only voices they hear from their party's officials are all against them, they'll walk. That's how I got _thousands_ of Republicans to become Democrats in ten days when I was 18 years old, and why I'm a Republican now.

The RINO term is used by people who can't win elections.

Can we even discuss fund raising legally here in open forum on Freerepublic considering what the President signed today? Is it illegal yet? Maybe we ought to check this out. We might be violating federal law now by using our free speech that we had guaranteed previously under the Constitution but that President Bush and Senator McCain and most of the liberal Dems have sidelined.

Too late, I already mailed my check. LOL.
Good idea but do state campaign laws apply to candidates in the state running for a federal office??? If so there is a limit on bundling donations to the same as an independent PAC donation limit.

The State GOP passed that to slap Emily's list in the face.

FreeRepublic is an LLC and as such FR members are allowed to communicate with each other (even under the new law).

BTW -- while everyone has their checkbook out. Today is a great day to make a donation to the NRA legal fund to fight CFR in court.

Even if that's true the PAC limit is $5000. When FR starts to get close to that point in donation bundling for candidates then I'm going to ask Jim to start FReePAC.

$5000?? I'm not worried then. I don't think it's covered under federal office anyway.

Political PAC limits
Governor - $3400
Lt Gov - $3400
Local/Judical candidate population 250,000+ - $3400
State Senate - $1000
local 85001-250,000 - $1000
State rep - $500
Local , less than 85,000 - $500
Other state elective office - $3400

Independent Committees have 10 times the limit of Political PACS(Like MCRGO)

RINO = Republican in elected office.
Real Republican = someone who can never win an election.

Usually RINO = Republican in name only.

Real Republican = someone who adheres to the party platform, such as being pro-life and anti-taxes.

Dan, I'm in if you and everyone else on this thread can reciprocate and help Jay Wolfe defeat Rockefeller for US Senate. Don't laugh, he CAN WIN. Remember who won the Superbowl and everyone said there was no way for the Patriots to beat the Rams??

West Virginia has two RAT senators who both voted for CFR as well as RINO Shelley Moore Capito. Capito's record:

Please address contributions to Jay Wolfe for Senator to: Friends of Jay Wolfe PO Box 89

THANK YOU!

I can't give much, but I'll do it. You helped our CCW fight too, so maybe we can get an upset.

People laughed when John Engler thought he was going to be governor in 1990.

As someone said all of those who think signing this is shrewd political calculus better hope Sandra Day O'Connor woke up on the right side of the bed on the morning when she hears this case.

Thanks, Dan. Good enough for me.

When I worked at a small newspaper in Michigan, I covered Upton and respected him. But going soft on pro-life issues will not warrant my support.
