The Coast Guard is, like its motto, Semper Paratus, Always Ready
Founded in the 1790s as part of the Department of Treasury, the United States Coast Guard is now part of the Department of Transportation, protecting U.S. interests at home and around the world.
In peacetime and during war, the Coast Guard is at work around the clock, 365 days a year, patrolling shores, saving lives, protecting property and enhancing the flow of commerce.
From helping the victims of floods and storms, to keeping millions of dollars worth of illegal drugs from flooding American communities, to teaching boating safety and cleaning up oil spills.

United States Coast Guard Core Values Honor Integrity is our standard.
We demonstrate uncompromising ethical conduct and moral behavior in all of our personal actions. We are loyal and accountable to the public trust.
Respect
We value our diverse work force. We treat each other with fairness, dignity, and compassion. We encourage individual opportunity and growth. We encourage creativity through empowerment. We work as a team.
Devotion to Duty
We are professionals, military and civilian, who seek responsibility, accept accountability, and are committed to the successful achievement of our organizational goals.
We exist to serve.
We serve with pride.
These core values are more than just Coast Guard rules of behavior. They are deeply rooted in the heritage that has made our organization great. They demonstrate who we are and guide our performance, conduct, and decisions every minute of every day. Because we each represent the Coast Guard to the public, we must all embrace these values in our professional undertakings as well as in our personal lives.

I'm leaving as soon as I get my little bear dressed. He is moving slowly. I'm so excited about meeting my friend Sassy. I couldn't find my wallet, but now it's found. :) Now if I can just find my keys......
Hugs and well wishes today.

Good morning! It was 19 degrees in the North Ga. Blue Ridge Mtns. when I got up this morning. It should warm up pretty quick though.
Here is a field of spring flowers for everyone.

Oh, Bunny dear, you've outdone yourself this morning!
Tonkin (what a handsome li'l devil!) must be grinning from ear to ear today.
Our Coast Guard is a wonderful institution, and one that so few average Americans know anything about. Did you know we have USCG installations world wide? Back in..hmmm...'85 or '86, I'm not sure which, Moammar Khaddafi of Libya attacked a US base in the Med with a SCUD-type ballistic missile. His missile missed, of course, but y'know what surprised me? It was a US Coast Guard installation!!
My wife's cousin is now a Commander with the Coast Guard. He started flying those awesome helicopters in your picture as a rescue pilot. Now he flies fixed wing HU-25 Falcons. His missions include searching for those lost at sea, as well as drug interdiction flights. Aren't these guys just the best?

We Need You -- In the wake of the recent attacks on the United States, the Coast Guard Auxiliary will be called upon to provide essential services to the Coast Guard as they focus more heavily on their military missions. We will need all the help we can get.
You needn't own a boat or even be an experienced boater, since our missions are wide-ranging. For information about existing Auxiliary missions and the Auxiliary in general, go to our
Join the Auxiliary webpage. You will find there a form through which you can ask that a local Auxiliarist make contact with you to explore the ways in which you can assist Team Coast Guard
and, in the process, do something for our country in its hour of need.
