CALIFORNIA SMOKERS UNDER RENEWED ATTACK!
Forces California ^ | March 20, 2002

Posted on 03/20/2002 12:54:10 PM PST by Max McGarrity

LOOK OUT! SB 1890 will raise all tobacco prices in California. Again. This bill is almost a copy of Prop. 99 with percentages of revenue going to many areas having nothing to do with tobacco. The bill is being pushed as the need for more money to assist medicare with smoking related diseases, so the misguided anti-smoker sheep will be for it. The full text of the bill can be read HERE. (Go into Bill Information, then enter the Bill number, SB 1890, select the bill written by Ortiz. This screen lets you subscribe to this bill so that anytime it moves you will be sent an email and a link.)

The "Revenue and Taxation" committee will hold a hearing on SB 1890 on April 10th and they need to have heard from US before that date!

This will pass, the way all taxes that discriminate against politically incorrect minorities pass in kalifornia. This is why I'm in favor of legalizing marijuana and taxing the living s%&t out of it - to get some back from the brain-dead bong-sucking lefties.

" brain-dead bong-sucking lefties " Let me ask whats wrong with them ? They pay there taxes just like you, they work just as hard as you . So tell me whats wrong with them ??? Also if they legalized marijuana it would save them ( gov ) so much money from there " War on Drugs " plus like u said they would tax the heck out of it.

As best I can decipher your post, I gather you think I insulted brain-dead bong-sucking lefties. No way, dude. I just feel that if they want to tax my legal tobacco, I ought to get to tax their illegal weed. Fair is fair.

The best thing to do with California is to leave. That's the vote that counts.

Gotta take a stand somewhere, Harry, before there's no place left with enough sand to draw a line in.

All is going to do is create a larger "black market". The Pols that don't realize this are dilusional and should be locked in a rubber room somewhere in Beverly Hills (at their own expense, of course). They seem to be basing their entire budget process on the sale of tobacco. If anything happens to collapse that house of cards they are up the creek with hung defacets, and it couldn't happen to nicer bunch of commies.

Well hey since murders are skyrocketing in Los Angeles since the last round of gun control - why don't we put a TAX on MOVIE TICKETS? The moneys could then be spent on "educating" the public about violence!!!I'm sure Rob Reiner could find some of his friends to help distribute the money!

I just e-mailed the following to each of the e-mail addresses listed above.

"A number of us smokers on Free Republic are going to start taking the names of all legislators who are behind the increased tobacco taxes for future reference in November."

I wish fellow freepers would send similiar e-mails to them as an opening salvo.
