National Review Online: Scott Speicher, Prisoner of War, Commander Robert Stumpf USN (ret)
How would you feel sitting in a secret isolated cell..alone...forgotten...deserted by your country...your brothers, the very citizens whom you swore to defend?
This is a comrade. A man who was willing to sacrafice everything (maybe already has) for us. No one is certain if he is alive or not? If he is though...he needs to be home NOW....and at the least our Government should turn over heaven and hell to find out what happened! A full accounting is mandatory....lest WE completely let Scott down.
There is no more single important issue to Veterans and their affairs, to Warriors of all generations THAN Scott Speicher...because this strikes at the heart of what the United States and her Citizens really think about their Honor, Courage and Committment....their freedom. And the message to the young men and women, in the ranks, you sons, daughters, husbands, wives, sisters, brothers, loved ones, friends is what?...what if it was them? Well it is and WILL be in the future.
Do something instead of dialogue. You don't need to sign the petition (but what would 5 million signatures accomplish? 10? 20?)...Just be an American and act. Call everyone you know. Call, email, fax every politician you know from city to federal; every press person, everyone! Keep this alive....
Scott Speicher will be accounted for ONLY if we are accountable to him...and my God in Heaven, he has been more than accountable to us!!
Apathy or United we stand?
Words or deeds?
We shall see and
Scott will know.
I have already read Commander "Spine-Ripper" Stumpf's excellant article in The National Review and I appreciate this getting the FreeRepublics attention.
I dont know about the rest of the Squadron but you have this member of VFA-83 thanks!
VFA-81 was my sister squadron and I am shocked to have heard about this. I always assumed that he was dead.
After reading Cdr. Stumpf's piece in the NR, I must say that I am a little bit angry at how the Gov. has acted.
Thanks again for the post! Good on ya'!
Stay well - stay saf e- Stay armed - Yorktown
I have signed the petition--
