It's unfair, Hatch adds, to both President Bush and Judge Pickering that Democrats on the Judiciary Committee would not send Pickering's nomination to the full Senate, even with an unfavorable recommendation.

Hatch and the 'Pubs might as well not waste their time complaining about fairness, because everyone knows, with Rats, fairness has nothing to do with it. For the Rats, its all a matter of ideology and the exercise of raw political power. The 'Pubs better learn to play that game as ruthlessly as the Rats do, or they're gonna be rolled yet again...

"IF"???

No no no; the way to frame it is, "What is going to happen, NOW that the Dems HAVE blocked a Conservative nominee?"

Otherwise, it's all just, "Boy oh boy, you just wait, just you wait! You do that ONE MORE TIME, and boy oh boy...."

If they would just prostrate themselves with dignity, it wouldn't be so bad.

It's the sham tough-guy talk and the endless litany of empty threats that's really humiliating.

The answer to this charade of Senate confirmations is quite simple: Put every Senator on the Judiciary Committee in an individual soundproof booth with the nominee's credentials, and previous decisions (if applicable.) No names, no aide's research to help them out. Have them make a decision thumbs up or down based on the nominee's credentials.

Doesn't anybody see how ridiculous this whole process is??? The Judicial branch is a check and balance, not an extension of the ideology (or lack thereof) of the other two branches of govt. We are looking for brilliant jurists, not ideologues.

Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-S.D.) was on the record calling such a move "unprecedented

The above statment by Daschle was proven wrong, but will it change his mind or alter his postion? Of course not.

The extent of truth in Daschles world extend no further than the knowledge he selectively maintains. Facts are a nusance to this idealouge, unless of course they support his position. Then the [facts] are paraded incesantly to and by the liberal media, while truer truths are flogged mercilously.

When [if] the Republicans wake up some day, they will realize that it isn't about whats fair and just, or who is right and who is wrong. Hatch leaves me less than confident that "change" is in the air. They [he] will bog themselves down in playing fair and following rules...meanwhile the Democrats will be conspireing there next move.

More hot air from the Stupid Party Senate leaders. Not one specific about what they will do about it, because they haven't got a clue. A good start would be for Trent "Vacant" Lott to step down as Minority Leader.

"There's ample precedent for giving a lower court nominee due consideration on the Senate floor," Hatch said... You'd never know it by reading the paper or watching the news. The trouble with Republicans standing up for principle is that the leftist press will not report inconsistencies with Democrat's statements or positions, will not question what they say, and will do what they can to make Republicans look stupid and mean spirited. It's a lose-lose for our side.

The pubbies need to tie up the Senate using all available procedures and get mean like the Demonrats did when they were in the minority by one vote and make them pay for not giving Judge Pickering a floor vote.

This kissing up to the Rats will not get it done. The pubs get rolled in the confrontation every time. They need to grow some backbone for Christsakes. Its a miracle Lott and crew can walk upright.

Hatch won't do diddly. If it were DeLay in Hatch's seat then I might be optimistic for payback. They haven't even yanked Jeffords dairy entitlements yet have they?

I think Dubya can do that by the "stroke of a pen"....kind of cool huh....yeah right.....the Pubbies have simply got to "nut up".

I vote for them and support them by default and I think GWB is a decent fellow but the Dems are whipping our butts even as they scramble for some footing in this election year.

Maybe I'm not seeing the "big picture" but I prefer to press the attack on my enemies when they are faltering. We are screwing up now domestically same as we did in '95 after the slam dunk wins in late '94.

As much as I hate to admit, aside from Ronaldus Maximus we've never had a "doer" like an LBJ or FDR. Tweak their liberal asses, use our political capital and make the bastards submit!

RANT OFF

Howdy

There it is in their own words, testamonials to the fact that their obligation under the Constitution is to allow a floor vote on qualified nominees.

What more is needed? The socialist senators on the judiciary are guilty of perjury for violating their oath of office in undermining the Constiution's advise and consent clause.

Pull the gloves off and bring perjury charges or else these barbarians will pull the Constitution to pieces clause by clause.

If we took the attitude they did, Bill Clinton would have had a hundred judges over the six years I was chairman. The fact is we didn't," Hatch said.

The unfortunate fact is yes, you didn't. If the Republican Party stood for what they said they do, not one of the Constitution-trampling, liberal Klintoon judicial appointees would have been confirmed. Now Hatch whines that the 'rats won't approve even moderate Bush appointees. The difference is that the 'rats will fight to force socialism upon us. And Hatch, Lott, et al. just bend over.

After the defeat by the committee of Judge Charles Pickering, Sr., to the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, CNSNews.com asked Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) whether a conservative nominee could make it through the Democratic-controlled committee.

"I hope so because, if they don't, there really is going to be hell to pay", Hatch said.

Okay, here is my problem. The scumbag Democrats have already thrown down the freakin' gauntlet! Does the gauntlet need to bounce up and smack Hatch and the rest of them in the stinking face?

There "is going to be...."?!!

When a bully wins the day against you and you fail to respond with brutal, decisive action, you are a loser forever, just waiting to be stepped on, again and again. The Republicans had better respond to the smearing and "borking" of Pickering NOW! With every weapon at their disposal. That's N-O-W, like in yesterday.

"Is going to be...."
Pathetic.

Hatch is a Rino, and it seems to me that he speaks out loudly on Television or before the print media. However I do wonder how much he really fights for the conservative side behind closed Chamber doors?
The Pubbies are not without power, and it is time they used it!
They should not have let Clinton have all of those liberal judges he nominated while we are on the subject. The demoRats sure don't play it that way!
Extreme pressure needs to be put on the so called majority leader. It is clear the intent is to make the President's term seem less successful.
It is all about power with these Rats.
