It's unfair, Hatch adds, to both President Bush and Judge Pickering that Democrats on the Judiciary Committee would not send Pickering's nomination to the full Senate, even with an unfavorable recommendation.

Hatch and the 'Pubs might as well not waste their time complaining about fairness, because everyone knows, with Rats, fairness has nothing to do with it. For the Rats, its all a matter of ideology and the exercise of raw political power. The 'Pubs better learn to play that game as ruthlessly as the Rats do, or they're gonna be rolled yet again...

Some elderly friends of ours have a son who is a democrat and who worked with Orin Hatch's staff in creating some legislation regarding dietary supplements some years ago. At a dinner some years ago, we heard from their son say that Hatch and the democrats were in the same party, the public was misled into thinking otherwise. Whether it is true or not, Hatch has done nothing to show otherwise other than talk.

Since then when I have had an occasion to view Hatch's actions, I have seen a pattern. He always puts on a show to display how shocked and appalled he is with Democrat actions or inactions. It's as if he were speaking to an audience of fools because he never backs his words up with anything of substance. He just may very well be putting on a show to fool his conservative constituents. We'll see if he follows up on his latest diatribes.

Hatch has the staff and resources to lead a campaign against the democrat members of the judicial committee. He could certainly come up with issues of crime, corruption, kickbacks, fraud and bias in the judiciary, starting with the 9th circuit. Even if his actions and proposals died in committee, he could raise issues that would hurt dems this Fall.
