Yes, what a narrow brush.
The Democrats just hate statements like yours here.
Also, as Hispanics assimilate ( or rather become radicalised by extremists) they become less conservative.
Dan Morales, the tenacious former attorney general, is Mr. Sanchez's main rival in today's primary. Mr. Morales, a critic of affirmative action who is still hoping to pull a major upset, has accused Mr. Sanchez of acting as if he were running for governor of Mexico, comparing him to a Mexican patron who feels entitled to buy the election because he already owns everything else.
The unprecedented Texas showdown between the two Hispanic candidates has been a slugfest, filled with charges of ethical and ethnic shortcomings, and presenting different models of Mexican-American assimilation. Mr. Sanchez insisted that one of their two debates be in Spanish. Mr. Morales accused Mr. Sanchez of using race and language to drive a wedge between Texans. "This is Texas and in Texas we speak English as our primary language," he said. During the Spanish-language debate, Mr. Morales, like some defiant hostage unwilling to be cowed by his captors, insisted on translating his own answers into English.

Hmmm. Then why not go to your representatives and demand the end to this practice? You see, this where you lose the argument and tip your hand. Instead of taking what would appear to be the easier route, you demand that everyone be rounded up in busses, sent back across the border and a wall built to keep them out.
If you're issue is welfare and social services, demand from you're elected reps (ER) that the laws be changed so they cannot receive them. If you're issue is crime, demand from you're ER's that they get tough on crime. If you're issue is jobs, demand that the INS step up it's efforts to prosecute business's that employ them. If you're issue is just plain illegal immigration, demand that congress quadruple the border patrol budget so they can do the job.
It's funny to me how people scream about the tax impact of illegals that seems minor when compared to the hundreds of billions that are wasted every year by local, state and the federal governments through waste, fraud, corruption and a bloated and unconstitutional bureaucracy. It's funny to me when people scream about the comparatively small amount of crime committed by illegals when we have rampant theft, rape and murder committed by our own citizens. It's funny to me when people scream about the "illegality" of crossing the border without papers when there has to be a citizen on the other side willing to illegally pay them under the table or there would be no incentive to pay the coyotes to run them.
I'm not saying problems concerning illegal immigration aren't important, just that the hysteria seems out of proportion and sometimes misplaced. You can't defeat you're opponent until you recognize who or what it is.
What you've said here sums up much of the danger to the Republican Party posed by mass immigration both legal and illegal.
The illegals are mostly "economic refugees" fleeing poverty and running to America's jobs and social programs. Most of the legal immigrants come here broke and start working their way up from the bottom. They are overwhelmingly future DemocRAT voters.
What does a recent immigrant care about American conservatism. They want to establish themselves in America and will accept any hand that will give them a hand up or a hand out. (And I speak from a great deal of personal experience with recent immigrants having been born in NYC and now living and working there). Later as they become educated and accumulate earning power and assets they may want less government , less taxation, and less social programs. But this process takes time. The problem with current mass immigration is that too many people are coming in too fast. The numbers are so great that they are exerting too much influence in American Politics. America is not assimilating them, they are changing America. America is not giving them the time to become educated and learn about, for example American conservatism.
They are adding large numbers of voters to the Democrat registration rolls.
Reminded me of the old Churchill quote that goes something like this: "If you're young and you're not a liberal, you have no heart. If you're old and you're not a conservative, you have no mind."
Bottom line Fitz, they're still not monolithic, just as white America is not. How many leftist brainwashed white kids get out of college and get real?
The Democrats just hate statements like yours here.
Why should they, you(Sabertooth) provide the demo's with enough fodder(ammunition) with your rants of immigrants "deporting themselves".
JMO Sabertooth, you are your own worst enemy.
Will be back later, but I am going to have a Sunday dinner of Corned Beef and Cabbage, popularized by those(according to Sabertooth's rants) dirty immigrants, the Irish.
The do not call it the stupid party for nothing..common sense and a knowlege history should have clued them in..but they remain clueless
Hmmm... been there, done that, Bob, almost on a daily basis for years. They don't listen, they do what their agenda calls for, and they keep getting re-elected here in California by liberals. Don't preach to me, I've tried everything.
The attitude in El Paso has always been to grab for whatever scraps they can get from Austin. El Paso closely resembles Ciudad Juarez to the South: very few people control the wealth and power in El Paso. There have been numerous stories about the 'brain drain' from El Paso, as thousands of the best and brightest El Pasoans flee to cities such as Dallas, Houston, Austin, etc. for greater economic opportunities.
During the six years since I left El Paso, my income has more than doubled, my kids are in better schools, and I'm able to spend more time with my family.
I could go on and on, but I won't. El Paso could be a great city, but those who pull the levers of power have no desire to lose their exalted status. I loved living there, but weep for the people who have missed out on so many opportunities.
BTW Fitz, how 'bout telling us what part of Texas you live in?
Dirty?According to what rants? When have I ever said that about the Irish, or any other immigrant froup... even the illegals?
Yet another straw man, Dane.
BTW, my heritage is more than half Irish.
Though I'm not too fond of your ongoing shillery and blarney.
Mmmmm, thanks for the reminder. Time for a snack.
Is it funny that 25% of the inmates in Calif. jails are Mexican Immigrants? Love Mexican or hate them, that stat speaks volumes.
