Reminds me of that tree-hugger who was killed by a falling tree.

What could anyone possibly add to this?

The deer, having checked its calendar, knew deer season was about to start, and it was attempting to dart across the road in search of a place to hide.

Where they more concerned about the damage to the car or due to the fact the poor deer was killed running into it? Those PETA bozos are priceless and this is even better than an April Fools' Day story. Bwahahaha!!!

Are they insisting that they, themselves, be charged with vehicular homocide? If not, why not

Why couldn't these two leave their Honda garaged during rutting season, so these poor animals could have unfettered access to turnpikes and interstates at this important time?

They are just plain crazy.

I bet we will hear about this tomorrow!

So the state supposedly made "an affirmative effort to increase the deer population". What? Did they hold socials? Potlucks? Enroll them in LoveMatch? Is PETA aware of the basic facts of life? Help me out here..........

Hey PETA I find a 30/30 works better than a honda I have both and the honda is to blunt and bends much easly and cost a lot more. Here in south texas we know how to hunt and how to drive.

This story just continues to make me laugh.
Picture this: two PETA protesters are driving home...after spending the day demonstrating against hunting.
And, these two are the ones that actually "bag a deer".
But, now they intend to sue, on the grounds that the state did not control the deer population...so to protect the human population.

Were the deer registered as democrats? Perhaps the PETAns were out on a 'get out the vote' drive sponsored by the Jackass Party. Maybe the deer--who the PETA people contend are far more noble and smarter than us--were on their way to a deer abortion clinic since they can't bear the stress of bringing anymore unwanted deer into the world since the government won't give them food stamps or welfare or public housing, or free condoms or....

Your excerpt says, "Shortly before 1 o'clock in the morning...while driving a Honda Civic belonging to PETA (and while returning from a PETA campaigning tour) southbound on the New Jersey Turnpike, a deer darted out in front of the car and a collision resulted..."
What I want to know is, why was a deer driving one of PETA's Honda Civics?
I can understand that PETA might think a deer is intelligent enough to drive a Honda Civic. I can even imagine PETA providing Honda Civics to deer so that they can drive themselves to campaign appearances. (This would also enable the deer to catch frightened humans in their headlights.) But so far as I know, a deer cannot obtain a driver's license in New Jersey. Therefore, the deer must have been driving illegally.
So why wasn't the deer arrested? Are the New Jersey State Police now showing favoritism toward deer? Are they, in fact, engaging in reverse cervidian profiling?
We must get to the bottom of this!
Good health to you.

*dies laughing* I live about 20 min away from Norfolk, VA. I hear they have a really big HQ there. And they're not well liked here in VA. I can't WAIT to see how THIS goes over.

Shortly before 1 o'clock in the morning on that date, while driving a Honda Civic belonging to PETA Here's the problem PETA, Honda Civic. Stop spending money on stupid billboards and disgusting "trading cards for kids" and buy a Mercedes.
We hit a wild boar (guessing 250lbs.) at 55 mph. The only damage was a cracked plastic headlight cover. And we would have had a heck of a BBQ but couldn't quite get it into the trunk. Darn it!
