A student group bows out of a Red Cross show rather than drop 'god' and 'prayer' from their songs.

SANTA ANA -- A student group will not sing at a Red Cross event Sunday because the troupe's director says the charity barred the use of the words "god" and "prayer."

Wartime finds Rick's Cafe Americain in Casablance crammed with clientele of all classes and races speaking in different accents. The rich, the poor, spies, stranded refugees and a group of Nazi commandants, officers and sympathizers.

The German officers at a table begin singing "Die Wacht Am Rheine" (The Watch on the Rhine). Incognito French Resistance leader, Victor Lazlo (Paul Henreid), orders the nightclub's band leader to play the French anthem "La Marseillaise".

In a memorable, dramatic duel of anthems sung in opposition, the Nazis are drowned out by the Free French and their supporters in the cafe.

The Freedom Fighters sing their hearts out.

Amidst wild applause, the bar girl shouts "Vive la France" at the conclusion of the singing.

Sing your hearts out tomorrow, California Freepers!

GOD bless America!

Leni

Re Post #37 - YEAH, I want to freep the local Red Cross. Hyatt Hotel at Jamboree and Main Street, Irvine - Sun. 11 AM be early. Signs? How about: "The 'G' word comforts, OC Red Cross Offends"? or "Why is the Red Cross afraid of the 'G' word?" Or, make a strike-out on the red cross symbol and add "The Salvation Army is not afraid to thank God for Volunteers". "Thanks 9/11 volunteers, but let the kids sing God Bless America!" "If it was Red Crescent Bless America, could we sing that?"

How can we be sure not to insult the honoree volunteers or be mis-understood by the the innocents arriving?

The Salvation Army gets more of your donation to the needy than any other charity, so it's the way to go.

I've just added the American Red X to my list of fund-raisers that will never get another dime from me. (United Way is another, because they are corrupt and support the destruction of the family by supporting groups that tear down the family.)

Civil Disobedience gets attention. Martin Luther King showed you how it works in the 60's. The students at Kent State showed you again during the Viet Nam War.

I'm approaching this subject as if we're EDUCATING them. I've made 30 copies of the OC Register article. Love your sign suggestions. I'll have some blank posterboard and marking pens. See you there!

I sent an e-mail to the director of the Orange County brandh of the American Red Cross which stated that if they were concerned about "America the Beautiful" being offensive, they should remove the word "American" from their title.

If they object to both American and Cross...wow, you end up with RED!

Regardless of what people think the world will not end if the Red Cross and United Way cease to exist. These two groups have become to PC for me and regardless of what one thinks they have political agendas and are run like most of our nations colleges by a collection of left leaning weirdos.I have quit donating blood and my family still donates to causes we think are fair and just but we no longer go through the United Way.I know in some states the United Way says it still donates to the Boy Scouts but in a lot of states they dont so therefore we give to individual charities so these people cannot route the money the way they want.If you dont give to the United Way in most cases they will not have as much to go around to their liberal minded programs and this will increase the programs benifit you care about because you give directly and the UW gives certain percentages each year to each program. This way you make up for the shortfall in states where the UW doesnt give to the Boy Scouts.

Your average, corn-fed Amerikaner probably wouldn't give two hoots. The ACLU and assorted others have made such an industry out of similar censorship that this latest B.S. probably doesn't even register. The campaign to remove any hint of Christian religious beliefs and a love of country has gone mainstream. It's in our face, up front and backed by the gun of the federal government (at least insofar as court rulings are concerned.)

Yes, another reason not to give to the Red Cross. I don't give to the Red Cross and the United Way, and I don't buy Girl Scout cookies anymore. When the little girl came to my door and asked me if I wanted to buy some GS cookies, I said, "No." She did not even look stunned, but simply turned around and walked away. I felt a little sorry for her, but I got the distinct impression that I was not the first negative response she had received.

I have problems with what the Girl Scouts have become too. But I will say I'm surprised that a little girl was actually selling. More usually it's the parents, in the workplace and suchlike - it's not a kid effort. GS ought to just sell them on the Internet.

The Red Cross has stolen so much of the contributors money they conscience bothers them when they hear the word God.

Maybe the Red Cross (or perhaps we should just start calling them "The Reds") can pay for their tickets since they're swimming in money from the 911 funds.

I seem to remember that folks arriving by car at this hotel enter from the inside parking lot. Did you see this entrance on your recce?

Yes. There are two entrances to the hotel set back from the intersection of Jamboree and Main, one on Jamboree and one on Main. I think we will get more attention if we stick to the actual intersection but we can make that decision when we get there. Hope to see you there!
