The only consolation I see: This happened in the great state of Texas where they regularly put to death persons convicted of murder. So hopefully Chante Mallard won't spend the rest of her days in prison on our dime. Death penalty for her and a very long time in prison for her 'helpers'.
And to my fellow FReepers who have tried to guess the race of the folks involved, shame on you. What possible difference will this make?

Fry her, slowly, over a period of three or four days. Let her beg for help but don't help her.
Give her time to repent of the evil she has wrought and then snuff her useless life out.

That story made me cry. OK, stop making me cry. I'm just a mess lately. I'm so happy your parents got to have contact with their grandchild.
I'm divorced, but happily married to my precious husband. I would NEVER keep my daughter from her grandparents. I think it's an evil thing to do. Who cares about my feelings towards my ex-husband...this is my daughters family and it would HURT her, scar her for life if I kept her from them.
oops, I keep changing the subject. There are good lawyers out there.

Maybe we've just redefined inhumanity here," said Richard Alpert It's the natural next step once you've redefined Humanity.

it's human reconstruction.

In Texas, we don't use old Sparky anymore, FRiend. Lethal injection. It's not inhumane and renders a quiet, peaceful end. . . Then dust off old sparky for this one. She doesn't deserve a "quiet, peaceful end" She deserves to die after days of pain and agony and ignored pleas for help. Just like her victim did

What an outrageous story!
To: Dane
Steven King has nothing on Ms. Mallard. Mallard is a sick inhumane person for ever letting this happen. Her friends are no better for their parts. I hope they keep this story in the national spotlight. I would like to see their "defense" for such a horrible act, and their eventual sentences once they are found guilty.

I just had a Brilliant Idea! Let's take Yates and this Jewel of a Human Being who decided to let this poor man suffer in agony and Give them both the Chair at the same time, Charge admission to the event and use the proceeds to throw the leftist idiots out of office who will rush to these lowlife's aide!

She was NOT a nurse; she was a nurse's aide. That's a lay-person, who has had 3 or 4 weeks of bed-pan training, not a medical professional.

Her friends that helped her with the body need to do some time for aiding & abetting as well.

"I think this is overreaching on the part of the prosecution and the police, and in the end, I believe the law will shake out that this was simply a case of failure to stop and render aid," [attorney for Chante Mallard] Mike Heiskell said ... ... after putting down his joint. LOL
Can't fault him though ... he is just doing his job, since every defendent is entitled to a competent defense.
The good news (whatever can come of this) indeed is that this event happened in Texas, where they don't play around with scum like Mallard.

This woman was NOT a nurse, she was a nurse's aide. They don't have patients of their own, they work directly under the supervision of a professional nurse. They are basically lay-people, who have had 3 or 4 weeks of bed-pan training. Aids know about as much about medical/nursing care of patients as your average waitress (no slander of waitresses, just a fact).

Thanks for the ping. This was on TV this morning. What can I tell you. There are some really messed up people in this world today.
To: Johnny Gage
Drinking and using "E". That caused the "accident". However, blaming it on the booze and drugs instead of the person, just deflects blame from her and pushes it onto the drugs she used. The drugs didn't cause her to let the guy suffer and die over 3 days. She did. How could she!?
This is a person who thinks so little of others that she's happy to drive around stoned on booze and pills. This is a person who would rather let a homeless man die than report the incident and take her punishment. This is a woman with friends who think so little of murder that they actually helped this scab. These people are filth.
These people live in Texas, you say? No wonder everyone there thinks it's a good idea to walk around armed at all times.

Beyond bizarre.

"at least recommend she not be given duties where patients must rely on her judgment." I wouldn't let her change someone's bed pan.
In fact I don't think she should be out on bond in the first place. Maybe that judge should have his head examined?

She was NOT a nurse; she was a nurse's aide. Thank you for reiterating that point. In Texas you take a 6 week course, to get certified. You don't have to have a HS education...OR even the ability to READ... (they'll give you an oral exam instead of a written one)
