Over here in "middle" America, we FREEPers are wondering...WHAT is happening in the California Primary? And what time is CONDIDIT going to make his concession speech??

Polls don't close until 8PM PST.

Does that make a difference to the media? It didn't in Florida. And Condidit is behind by 15%.

Condit: "My only regret is that I won't be able to take showers with Loretta Sanchez in the Congressional gym lockerroom anymore. This truly is a sad day in Condit Country."

What concession speeches? I'll bet they both run as independents in the fall.

Please fix your font, and turn off the caps-lock. Your post hurts the eyes.

California probably has a "sore loser" law (most states do). That prohibits someone who runs in a primary and loses from running as an independent in the subsequent general election. The SCOTUS has ruled those constitutional. (I had a number of them set aside as unconstitutional for John Anderson in 1980, but only for their application to a presidential candidate, as opposed to a candidate who ran totally within one state.)

You won't see Riodan or Condit in the fall.

"Since Condit has been following the Clinton playbook to the letter, I expect him to contest the election and demand that every vote be counted."

If you ask for a recount, do you have to pay for it? The rules may vary from place to place, but I have some memory that something like this is true. You have to finance it, or your party has to finance it, or something like that. If true, I doubt Gary would be able to afford a recount, and I sure don't think the Rats would pay for one he wanted.

I expect Condit to run as an Independent if he loses.

Since Condit has been following the Clinton playbook to the letter, I expect him to contest the election and demand that every vote be counted.

Unless the results are within a vary smal percentage, he will have to pay for the recounting. I believe if its within 5% then the state will foot the bill.

I've had great fun through this past year harrassing the good citizens of Modesto and area about Condit when I'm out there on business. Every one of them told me they wouldn't vote for him again, period. Of course, I always have to ask why they voted for him to begin with.......

Actually, you left off an important part of Condit's quote. It should read:

"...But I'll pay you all back. I've got dirt on everybody. I know where the bodies are buried!...Opps..."
