Ok, since we've run the gamut on why men cheat on their wives, lets got with "why do women cheat on their husbands"
Why does anyone cheat? It starts with a lack of integrity. Vows don't mean anything to those people. Their word isn't worth squat. Honor is a forgotten concept. The idea that one should be bound by their word, and honor their vows is laughed at. It's "old-fashioned", "archaic", "a silly notion from a by-gone era". Anything which causes inconvenience is to be avoided, anything which would curtail ones whims and fantasies is to be avoided, broken, or set aside. The importance of the individual is paramount! It's all about "ME! ME! ME!" Self-actualization. Self-realization. Self-agrandizement. Self-serving.
My ex-wife cheated herself right out of marriage to me, although I was the one who had to physically get up and walk out. Now she's in an abusive marriage with her current husband. I never abused her, or even raised my voice to her. As far as I'm concerned, she got what she deserved. My life is much more peaceful, calm, and fulfilling without the stress and pain of betrayal. I'll wait for the right woman to come along, a woman who takes her vows seriously and keeps them, whose word is her bond, who can be trusted even when she's not being watched. That's integrity!
That depends on who belongs to the hand.
All one needs is a "Captain's layover kit" which consists of a copy of Playboy, some surgical tubing, a rubber glove, & KY Jelly. Just put the glove on one hand, lubricate with the jelly, tie the tubing around that hand's arm so the feeling disappears, gander at the pictures in the magazine for obvious reasons, reach around from behind through the legs and pretend that someone else is doing the job.
They are a tiny minority that's over represented here on FR.
If you can ignore them, do.. If not write a letter to JR and that stuff will stop immediately.
But just remember, .04%
And that is the best, most selfless thing I think I have ever seen you post.
Ding, Ding, Ding....We have a winner. You should write a book (or at least a paragraph). All the physchobabble in the world could not have boiled it down to a more common denominator like you have. Questions is: Did you come by this from purely theoretical observation, or should I ask for details (LOL)
The simple solutions such as sin, or rebellion, or not remaining in fellowship with God are all true, but I believe there are also some very real discernible differences in the generations of the last 20 years and 50 years ago.
Perhaps men were more guilty in society as a whole 50 years ago, but I believe in the last 10-20 years, women have been exposed to a number of different temptations which have increased the curse on our society.
Many women who have grown up past the baby boomers have grown into a myth of women's lib and belief that women are no different than men. ( Sorry folks, but those differences over the past 5000 yrs do exist and likewise plenty of professional women and powerful women existed long before Bella Abzug or any other Feminazi.)
I've seen many more women play the court decisions in their favor to premeditatedly enter into marriage on several occasions in different states simply to elicit lifelong annuities from past acquaintences.
I've also seen women who preplan their dominoe leapfrog off the backs of spouses but ultimately scar themselves or numb themselves from any sense of mature righteousness.
I've seen some who sincerely believe that any woman who divorces implies the man has failed them, regardless of how loving, assertive or well provided for in the relationship.
I've seen some simply at a loss later in life and turn to any temptation which walks their way, in business, money, potential security, emotion, even a considerable amount of homosexuality in these last two decades.
I've also seen some communities, say with many African Americans/blacks ake the premise that marriage is not long lasting and opt simply for births out of wedlock to avoid complications as a norm. Hard to say. Varies from culture to culture and person to person.
It wouldn't surprise me though, if somewhere the US isn't in some sort of Divine Discipline wherein homosexuality and adultery is allowed to run amuk as a penalty for past transgressions or lack of devotion to Him.
I thought that marriage vows were more or less intended to keep that sex within marriage. Sorry, there is a bit more to it than your simplistic statement.
Exactly!
I think it's somewhat human nature to think that doing something wrong is exciting.
Exactly wrong. If doing something wrong were the excitement, ALL guys would violate their vows. Instead, only half do.
When people feel they lack purpose in their lives they find that excitement fills the void.
I think its when people find that their lives lack excitement, where excitement fills the void. Its a subtle difference in what you said, but nonetheless, an important difference.
These days, you don't know if you will come home and find the little woman in bed with the guy from next door, the woman from next door, or both.
-- Now, -- try sucking on an egg for awhile. It may get you some of the attention you crave.
LOL, I have no doubt you are right.
I can't TPaine.. The Libertarians did something nasty with it and called it a "right"
