Where is Danielle van Dam?

Well, he sure looked like he was just fine when he arrived home last night and talked to reporters.
Re: the involvement of Mark Klaas, father of Polly Klaas, the girl who was kidnapped from her bedroom back in 1993 and later murdered, it is interesting (and unsettling) to note that his father Joe Klaas once wrote the introduction to a book on satanic ritual abuse:
... Joe Klaas, famous in the 12 step movement, wrote the introduction to that book ( Breaking the Circle of Satanic Ritual Abuse by Daniel Ryder), and initially blamed the kidnap of Polly on retaliation against him for having written that introduction. Source: San Francisco Chronicle November 1993.]
An article by Daniel Ryder on the subject of satanic ritual abuse can be found at www.du.edu/~craschke/text2.edu.
Of course, we all know that there are no such things as satanic cults (scroll down) and that satanists might dress funny, listen to bad music, and maybe in extreme cases ritually sacrifice small animals, but they never actually kill people
Sounds more to me like he did the desert search just to please the media (just like you said, OJ looking for the "real killer"). OK, we all react differently to tragedy and stress, but most men I know would have come back obviously agitated and upset, crying even, that she still hasn't been found. Wishing "this whole thing was just over with" - again (reaction statement), but over with? I hope he means, "I hope we find Danielle soon", and not "this is such a waste of time - why don't you all get out of my front yard?"
As you said, I would hope he meant that he wished they would find Danielle but it sure didn't sound that way.

Brenda and Damon van Dam told police their daughter, Danielle, went to bed about 10:30 p.m. Friday, and they discovered she was missing about 9 a.m. yesterday. The family lives on Mountain Pass Road in the Sabre Springs neighborhood of San Diego near the Poway city limits. Police said they found no sign anyone broke into the home, but did find both a garage door and side gate leading to the back yard open. Frantic neighbors spent much of the day searching a nearby canyon and posting fliers with Danielle's picture throughout the neighborhood, but found no sign of the girl. Police used helicopters and dogs to search the area just north of Scripps Poway Parkway and Springbrook Drive, but turned up no clues, police spokesman David Cohen said. Police are treating the area as a crime scene, and the search continued last night. The van Dams and their two other children said they did not hear any unusual noises during the night. "We will be here presumably until we can do no more good," Cohen said. "She's missing and we have no good reason for why she's missing." Danielle was last seen wearing blue pajamas with flowers on them. She is white, about 4-feet, 8-inches tall and weighs roughly 58 pounds, police said. She has blond hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the San Diego Police Department at (619) 531-2000. The parents told police that on Friday night, Damon van Dam put Danielle and her two brothers to bed about 10:30 p.m. The boys, 5 and 9 years old, sleep in a separate bedroom, said Liz Brady , a close family friend. Brenda van Dam left the home about 9 p.m. Friday to go out with friends, while her husband stayed home with the children. She told police that she returned about 2 a.m. and ate pizza with the friends and her husband until 3 a.m. Before they went to bed, they noticed red lights blinking on a burglar alarm panel, and discovered a sliding glass door at the back of the house and a side garage door were open. The alarm did not sound, and the couple closed the doors and went to bed. They did not check on the children before they retired, Cohen said. They discovered the girl was missing when a neighborhood friend of Danielle's came to the home to play with her about 9 a.m. Her parents said Danielle was still sleeping and went to wake her up, but she was gone. Residents of the area said the neighborhood of newer two-story tract homes is normally quiet and has little crime. "You think you live in a safe neighborhood and you wake up one day and your daughter is gone," Brenda van Dam said through tears. "I just want her back in my arms." Newsgroups: rec.audio.tech,rec.audio.opinion I'm building some surround speakers for placement in the ceiling. The driver specs show improved bass response as the sealed enclosure get's larger. (But they are only 3" full ranges.) I'm thinking of using an infinite baffle (i.e. the ceiling space). Will this give the best bass response? Or do I build an enclosure and hide it in the ceiling? Also, I'm using offset bass tweeter pairs in each box. Like a V with one bass/tweerer pair on one side and one bass/tweeter pair on the other. The V will not hand down from the ceiling but instead point the speakers at the back wall at an angle to each other; then the speakers will also be angled downward. Sitting in the seat, facing the front of the room, leaning back and looking up at the celing from the listening position: --------------------------------------------back wall /\ /\ / \ / \ /O O\ /O O\ O = woofer /o /\ o\ /o /\ o\ o = tweeter /__/ \__\ /__/ \__\ (I'm planning to make the angle of each V about 120 to 135deg instead of the 75 depicted here. i.e. flatten out the V) At what separation angle will adding a bipolar/dipolar switch make a difference in the sound? Will this arrangement sound like crap? Also the listening position is nearly on the back wall - and the back wall will be nearly completly made of funky shutters instead of drywall (No, the position and room factors cannot be changed:-) Please email as I'd like to talk to anyone with speaker building experience... thanks, Damon =========================================================== From: Damon van Dam Subject: baby stuff forsale Date: 1998/05/12 Message-ID: <355870A8.51FE@qualcomm.com>#1/1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Organization: Qualcomm Inc. Hildy, if the VD's are players, as described above, then they are either "wired" into the community, or they are naive. They do not strike me as the later. Most major league dealers know their safe zones, and if the VD's were picking up strays for their calistenics, as often as reported, then they would have shared their "stash" with potential informants. If they were not worried about such "problems" then maybe they were high enough up in the San Diego food chain, to not worry about, shall we say, legal entanglements!
Again, the "mid-priced" house you descibe is going to require in mortgage, and upkeep a minimum of $50,000 annually. The little "stay-home" Mom requires too much high octane entertainment to be a pay check to pay check coupon clipper!! IMHO!
It appears Brenda is the "adventurous" half of the couple.
I making no assessments, but the manner of his last comment about how he just wishes it were all over does strike one in print as the statement of a self-indulgent boomer used to instant gratification. Just want to end this nusiance, like an abortion would. But then again, that could be incredibly unfair, its easy to take someone's word and twist them to totally misrepresent what you meant.
To say the least, LOL!!
