Is this a death nail in the coffin for Riordan?

Simon ... appreciates ... Republicans of every stripe

Isn't diversity politics so transparent. Illegals for Simon anyone?

But to his credit Simon has not voiced any support for the Reconquista former House speaker Villaraigosa as Riordon has done.

This is breaking news?

no mention of- PJB, photos, cheese, moose, logged on, Mormons, Catholics, Libertarians...

What you have here is a total failure. In the future, please let the moderators be informed before you 'break wind' in 'Breaking News'.

Have Simon post an e-mail from the Pope ordering him to pass the Olympic torch to Marie Osmond while eating yellow cheddar with a moose praticing the non-agression principle taught to his mother by Patrick Buchanan-- then you will have Breaking News!

YeeeeeeeeeeeeeeHA!

I think that in the People's Republic of Kalifornia, there are LOTS of closet conservatives and moderates leaning right. They just need a cause for which they believe to be sufficiently serious to justify "coming out of the political closet" and 9-11 is going to be IT.

Just like the miracle Patriots....perhaps it is possible that there are enough liberal Americans who still consider themselves to be REAL Americans to want to support the new initiatives the rest of the country seems to be embacing (see the President's POLL numbers!) with a fervor only found by a country gripped by war.

Too bad the New York GOP couldn't have done similar. Michael Bloomburg ain't no Republican either. Talk about a wolf in sheeps clothing, or vice versa! Well, glad to see someone's waking-up.

Riordan was always as anti-gun and elitist as any DemoCRAP, issuing gun permits to his cronies and shutting out the common man from his right to self defense...indeed prosecuting them at every opportunity when that right was exercised by the great unwashed masses...just as Janet Reno did when she was State Attorney here in Miami-Dade County.

Does anybody have anything definitive on the gun stance which would be taken by Simon? It's not enough these days to say he's a tried and TRUE Republican...too many of them have sold their souls on this issue. California needs to repeal many of the anti-gun laws passed and reinforce their anti-terrorism stance by giving a wider acceptance to the issue of state level concealed weapons permits. Any signs that Simon would be agreeable to this? How accepting would he be to the concept of state level reciprocity for concealed weapons permit holders from other states? This is critical legislation to the anti-terrorism efforts as well as being generally anti-crime.

Following news that the former Gov. of CA says he won't support Dicky in the general election, it appears the Rhino Riordan ship is sinking!!

I'm voting for, and have endorsed, Simon.

But, as a prognosticator, I say: Riordan wins the Primary, and loses to Davis ... and the pragmatists learn nothing at all from the experience.

Wish I didn't think it, but I do.

Cheerful ... over the long haul ... as always,

Richard F.

"While we as a Republican Party will individually disagree on one issue or another, we are bonded together by a common commitment to a limited, less intrusive government and the belief that every citizen should have the freedom to achieve his or her dreams.

What Republican Party is he talking about? Seriously, What Republican Party is he talking about?

Federalizing the airport cops, federalizing firefighters, who's next ?

What a limp wristed statement defending Republican positions if I ever heard one! This guy pulled so many punches, he wound up hitting himself. No wonder Kalifornia is in deep doo doo.

"While we as a Republican Party will individually disagree on one issue or another, we are bonded together by a common commitment to a limited, less intrusive government and the belief that every citizen should have the freedom to achieve his or her dreams. "Mr. Riordan's record has put him at odds with our core beliefs time and time again.

Mr. Riordan is heading in the wrong direction -- half-assed and backwards.

"In contrast, Bill Simon has demonstrated in the past months that he is not only committed to up-holding the core Republican belief of limited, less intrusive government, but has also shown a genuine appreciation for Republicans of every stripe. He has spent months campaigning across the state, building a solid, genuine grass-roots organization that will be of the utmost benefit to our state party in the General Election. He has also pledged whole-heartedly to support every GOP nominee in November.

Simon is our future.

There was another debate today between Simon, Jones and Riordan at the CRP convention.

Anyone hear anything about it?

I agree with this statement of unacceptablity. I never thought I would say this about any Republican --- and this is my first time ever --- but I'd rather have a Rat in the state-house than this "Republican" who is, in fact, no Republican at all.
