"Citizen" is starting to sound more and more like a not-yet-convicted criminal. Once everyone is criminalized(potential hate-criminals), guns will no longer be an issue.

"Citizen" is starting to sound more and more like a not-yet-convicted criminal. Ther is a line in the movie "Blade Runner"........Decker is trying to turn down the job of hunting the escaped androids and his boss, Brian tells him no. Decker says "No way, hunh?"
Brian says, "you know how it is, if your not cop, you're little people."
Is that where we are heading?

This article makes me sick. At least here we are REFUSING to register. But those who do not already own a gun must buy one on the black market. Oh well, either way they consider us criminals if we wish to protect ourselves, and NOT BE RULED!! What is so awful here is that this fellow has defended your Country (and mine), had a little bar scuffle which was likely justified, and now this. It is terrible. Is that the repulik of Maryland??

YUP, unless you start overturning the Democraps in very large numbers!

"Trust me. In a lot of these cases, I'm sympathetic, but I'm governed by the law," said Maj. Thomas Bowers, chief of detectives for Maryland State Police. Then maybe "the law" is the problem.

And you think its tough - try California.
Anybody want to offer the rules in California so we all can see the limits placed on us?

We're already there...not everybody realizes it yet.

"State police said they soon will begin searching databases for gun owners with disqualifying offenses on their records..." If they want you, they'll get you. National ID card would make their job alot easier. Incrementally, of course. Creeping locusts.

My advice to Donald G. Arnold, go west young man go west. If they won't trust you, don't give them your taxes. Move.

I agree!! He, and every other persecuted gun owner just ought to move to a state that respects the Constitution. Pay taxes where you are treated like the honest citizen you are. Let the libs live there, especially when the criminals start to take advantage of the gun free zone!! No more benefit of the doubt! Should be good for a laugh!!
Next thing you know, they will be reviewing your childhood for bedwetting transgressions and denying you your rights over them.

We may already be there.
Cops had a "peace officer" mentality once upon a time. Now the recruits seem to have the "law enforcement officer" instilled in them(training) with an us-against-them(experience) outlook.
Police are no longer employed as just another citizen with a badge.
Don't get me wrong. I respect the law. I take issue with how it's enforced at taxpayer expense.

Donald G. Arnold is a Vietnam veteran and president of his neighborhood association. He was named a "citizen of the year" by Maryland in 2000 for his work with police in southeast Baltimore to stop drug dealers and make the city safer. None of that mattered, however, when Mr. Arnold tried to renew his permit to carry a gun that he needed in his work as a private detective and security guard.
Can it be any clearer that the disarmament agenda is not about public safety?

Don't get me wrong. I respect the law. I take issue with how it's enforced at taxpayer expense.President Bush's comments last night about "more cops" bothers me. I'm all for more enforcement of laws against terrorism and violence, but I'm afraid that a lot of this additional policing will be more harrassment of generally well behaved citizens over issues like seatbelts, .08 alcohol levels, etc. It's like suburban cops hassle you over petty offenses while city cops are too busy with real crimes to bother with the small stuff.

Next thing you know, they will be reviewing your childhood for bedwetting transgressions and denying you your rights over them. This is essentially what they are doing now in UK, per a post here a few weeks ago.
