USO Canteen Freeper Style
War has come to our shores. It was committed on American soil. We have been able to live in Freedom only because of those who have fought in the past wars giving life, limb and all the sacrifices for us to live in Freedom and go about our day without fear.
On September 11, 2001, that comfort, that feeling of living in a land that would not be attacked ended.
William T. Sherman said it succinctly, "War is hell."
The day has come for this Nation and its people to understand that there is a risk in losing its freedom, and in reality there always has been. We have ONLY stayed free because of the sacrifices of our military, our warriors.
This is about saving the future of America. Aristotle said, "We make war that we may live in peace."
We are seeing the American Flag flying at homes now more than ever in my lifetime. We are seeing the American Flag flying on vehicles and people wearing Flag pins and small Flags on their clothes. America is united in the cause for Freedom and for our country to WIN against the evil that came upon our land to kill and hurt us. To change our way of life and to destroy America which is US, you and me. To take away our precious Freedom.
This is the Freeper version of the USO Canteen. Where soldiers could come and feel a small part of being at home. It is a place where you that have family in the military can post a thought to a loved one that might be able to read it far away from home. A place where we that support our military can help support them, post to them, fun graphics showing the price in America and our troops. Poems, quotes, cartoons, or articles of how America is behind our troops.
Those in our military are our Nation's warriors. Let us join hands, fly our Flag and let the world know how important our warriors are to us....And that our MILITARY, our Warriors, are America's TRUE HEROS!
"No Marine was ever honored for what they received. Honor was the reward for what they gave." (Anonymous) CHIEF gave his all in many ways. He touched our lives and his friendship meant so much to all of us. He will live in our hearts forever, and his friendship will always be a bright and shining memory in our hearts and souls.

Good mornin, Billie. Good morning Freepers, vets and family. It's a beautiful day in the High Desert. Things are looking up weather-wise.
My son has been sick, but he's getting better. However, my three month old daughter has been really sick off and on the past week. Once it looks like she's getting better, she doesn't. Please have good thoughts/prayers for her today. She's a cutie, and Daddy's little girl. Thanks

Morning All! We have a beautiful blanket of snow in the Valley this morning. Unusual for Portland area.
Father, watch over my
Family while I'm away.
Take care of him, Lord,
The wife silently prayed.
Bless my daddy, God.
The children prayed,
As he left that day.
Dear God in heaven,
Creator of all,
Protect us from evil
As we heed your call.
Guide us and give
Us the wisdom to
Make our world
A better place.
Give us the strength
To carry on today,
As we face new
Challenges along the way.
Through you all fear
And loneliness fade away,
For thou art with us
Through eternity, in
Your name we pray.
Amen.

Rota Seabees find work in Cuba grueling but rewarding By Scott Schonauer, Rota bureau
European edition, Saturday, January 26, 2002
Backbreaking work, 10 hours a day. Temperatures of more than 80 degrees. Working near prisoners described as potential "suicidal murderers."
It might not sound like a dream job even if it is in the Caribbean in the middle of winter.
But dont expect a long list of complaints from sailors building a temporary jail for Afghan detainees at a U.S. Navy base in Cuba.
For a Navy Seabee, there are few places in the world they would rather swing a hammer.
"Its not so often that you get to take part in something like this," Petty Officer Allan Gold said by telephone in an interview with Stars and Stripes. "Its our chance to do our part."
Their piece of the project is a big one.
In the past month, about 100 Navy Seabees from Rota, Spain, and bases in the United States have constructed cells with chain-link walls, concrete floors and wood and steel roofs. They have built about 120 so far. But they wont stop there.
They are scrambling to put up a total of 320 cells to make room for more Taliban and al-Qaida detainees being held in Afghanistan. The rest of the story

They have built about 120 so far. But they wont stop there.I'd rather they be dead than prisoners, but taking them prisoner is the next best thing. Keep building!

For some reason, your AOL pictures are not loading - or loading very slowly. Hmmmmmmmm,,,
I've been wanting to ask you a question. Did you ever appear on the cover of a national magazine? I remember seeing someone once who has the very good fortune to resemble you.

AOL has been so very contrary lately! I'm getting very annoyed with them - I have written them, and they assure me it IS a problem with AOL and not my PC, and they are working to fix it. Still annoying.
I am flattered by your remark - not me, alas!

Good afternoon everyone. I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday. It is beautiful here in the Northeast. Clear and cool...not cold.
I am looking forward to President Bush's State of the Union Address on Tuesday. We are all so lucky to have such a wonderful Commander-in-Chief!
