Vanity Post on Vanity Posts, Duplicate Posts, Trash Posts, Commie Propaganda, etc., Vol V, No. 1

Way too many vanity threads lately. And way too much trash being posted. Please try to stay on topic (politics). Also, please do a search on a significant word from the title of your article before posting. This will reduce the number of duplicates. And, along these same lines, please use the original titles on your article posts. Do NOT edit the titles. Do NOT use "My Title" titles. This will also help to reduce the number of duplicates.
And, whatever else you do, please DO NOT post from DEMOCRATS UNDERGROUND (or any other such trashy un-American socialist hangout). Free Republic was intended to be a socialist free zone. We've gone to a heck of a lot of trouble to make it that way. Why in the world would you think we would be interested in having their trash posted here?
And QUIT trashing each other. You know who you are. Knock it off! Way too many flamewars and feuds going on. And, while I'm thinking about it, QUIT trashing our conservative candidates. If you want to criticize someone's position on some policy, have at it. But do not trash or smear the man. That would include Browne, Buchanan, Bush, Keyes, et al, or whomever else may be your favorite trashee (examples listed in alphabetical sequence). The idea is to get more conservatives elected, not to trash the ones you don't like. If you want to trash someone, make it a Democrat. Thank you.
And QUIT dredging up old communist propaganda to smear our conservatives. Sheesh! Whatever else you may think about our guys, they did not hijack airliners full of people and crash them into buildings. No, my friends, not even the dreaded CIA. Anyone who would believe (or even suspect) that crap is no FReeper. I've been pulling this crap whenever I see it and several people have been banned for continuing to post it. I do not want it on Free Republic. Any current FR poster who believes this leftist propaganda, please logoff immediately, send me your resignation via email, and I will delete your account.
Thanks,
Jim

Recently I was going to post something, so in order to please the day posters, I bumped the previously posted post about 6 times, another poster helped with about 2 bumps and we couldn't even get near the top. Oh dear. [scratches head]
One 'bump to the top' bumps it to the top. Copy/pasting an old post just to repost it does not make it more visible in the lastest posts than simply bumping the old thread does. It is not a cumulative process... When a lot of people are posting, it doesn't stay 'at the top' long.
Use the search function if you see an article and don't know if it has been posted yet. Use the exact title when searching and posting... If it has been posted, don't post a duplicate, is what I think JimRob is saying here....

Your take on Proposition 187 is pretty accurate. An absolute disgraceful action against the people. One that wont be forgotten.
To: cake_crumb
Amen to that, and there are plenty of Democrats to trash. Not all democrats are liberal. I support conservative democrats over rino liberals.

After reading all the posts on this thread, I must quote my southern Grandmother who always said "The more things change, the more they stay the same".
LOL

What about the spamming of Nordquist/Gaffney Posts????

If the same story is posted 5-6 hours apart, we generally don't pull them. If some hits the abuse because of a duplicate thread, we check the posting times first before pulling a thread. Only on instances where we might have seen the same story 4, 5 or more times in a day do we start pulling.

What Democrats want is to destroy our sense of community. If so many post are done that we can't form concessus on ideas, our political power is gone.
How about a loyalty statement that reads "I am not working for the DNC, any local Democrat organization, or a PR firm. I am not posting for someone who is a member of any above mentioned groups" Signed_________. It would stop a lot of the trash.

Ok, thanks, but there is a real problem for the night readers, they, I , miss alot because the day readers hate you for posting something that has already been posted, but the night readers have not a clue what they are missing. If I know what has been posted, I can look it up, but If I don't know what has been posted, how can I know what to look for??????????????????

There have been too many ugly flame wars with people hurling insults at one another. It gets really mean sometimes.

"If you want to trash someone, make it a Democrat."They are certainly easy to trash. Come to think of it we don't need to trash them. They do a good enough job of it on their own.

AMEN, AMEN, AND AMEN
Oh, wait, I already said that in post #42
Oh, wait, again, 42 was the answer to the question, the one about life, the universe, and everything in Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy "trilogy."
Coincidence? Uh, probably. Where's my towel?

Great song, but you stil don't get it. What I am saying, If I don't know what to search for, how can I search for it? It might have been posted in the morning, but if I don't know it was there or what it was about, how could I know what to look for? Many articles might have been of interest to me or who-ever, but we don't know that they were posted, how can we know what to search for? Your comments please. The night people are at a disadvantage here, I have been a lurker for about 8 years and this is one of my major problems with your web site.

I am one of the night people, late night at times.
I'll see an interesting article and read it, then underneath see someone has written to the poster how this article has already been posted. I'll think to myself that I'm glad someone reposted it because I hadn't seen it before, and probably wouldn't have otherwise.
This happens a lot.

Jim Robinson --
And QUIT trashing each other. B4Ranch -- People will take up a page critcizing each others thoughts, rather than discussing the subject.
If one disagrees with a poster, then just discredit the idea and not the poster.
Argumentum ad hominem -- not good.
To: Jim Robinson
And QUIT dredging up old communist propaganda to smear our conservatives. Sheesh!Sheesh is right. IMO, there's a lot of this.

Sorry, but the latest post page is too large to be repeated for each shift. Suggestion, start at the top and scroll down. Then when you get to the bottom of the page and have read all threads you are interested in, click on "More." Repeat until you've scanned all threads for the day. On most days there are around 500 threads in the main forum. When you finish scrolling through all of those, then you can start on the other forums.
Oh, be sure your setting is for "Threads" only. It will take forever to get through 20 to 25 thousand posts if you have it set for "Messages."
Or, maybe a volunteer or two or three will step forward to maintain a "Most Important Threads of the Day" thread.

Oh, yeah. Almost forgot about this little ditty:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/my/review
There is a link to a program called "Review" in your personal menu (Click on your screen name at the top right corner of the latest posts page).
Depending on how you've configured your sidebar settings, you will get an overview of the topics of which you're most interested. And there is a "More" link at the bottom of each column to display more articles after you've read all on the main list. Use your right mouse click to open in new window.
