Posted on 01/22/2002 10:48:42 PM PST by cavador

I have just heard a review (on Radio 2GB Australia)of a Documentary on SBS Television Australia screening tonight. The program covers current events in the Middle East and tonights programme examines whats happening in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq .

Apperently there are convoys of oil tankers heading north into Turkey in an attempt to break the embargo on Saddams Oil.Repportly some of the convoys are eight kilometers long.

The foreign correspondent for the Middle East was onsite to witness these events and is featured on the show. He has first hand news that these convoys are in fact organised by Osama Bin Laden & Al Queida.

Apperently he is still alive and is in Nothern Iraq and is wheeling & dealing with Saddam Hussien.

My guess is that if OBL were still alive he'd be waving a red flag, saying, "na, na, nanana, I'm still here."...on the other hand, we do need to deal with Saddam, and hunting for OBL in Iraq is as good a place as any to do the hunting.

He came out twice after 9/11 just to say na na nanana. I think he would do it again if he had the chance.

Well, if those tankers ARE in violation, how's about the U.S. Navy appointing some "designated drivers" to steer them straight to the nearest U.S. refinery.

"Unless Saddam is still INCREDIBLY stupid... I don't think so."

Hard to say. I think he is smarter (not much) than Saddam.

Who cares where he is? Let's put UBL-baby wherever we want him to be, so we have an excuse to bring them the Holey Month of BOMB-adon. Iraq with Saddam sounds as good a place to park him as anywhere. Let's Roll !!!

Saddam is dumb like a fox and hates the U.S. as much as Bin Laden. If this article is true, it could be our worst political nightmare - the two of them, Saddam and Bin Laden, working as a "team". Both China and Russia have warned us to stay out of Iraq. I've thought all along that OBL's next move would be to throw out the trump card - Iraq.

ANOTHER US HELICOPTER DESTROYED IN BAGRAM KILLING TWO SOLDIERS AND 'INJURING' SEVEN

KABUL (Monitoring Desk): A US helicopter was destroyed in a region 60 km away from Bagram Airport, which is to the north of the Afghan capital, Kabul. In this incident two US soldiers were killed and seven others were injured, according to US authorities: the real death toll is higher since perhaps it may be unknown to the Americans that it is not normal for human beings to drop 100m from the sky onto the ground and survive. According to US sources, this helicopter took off on Sunday morning at 7 am from Bagram Airport along with another helicopter. After 30 minutes into the flight, it apparently crashed due to 'technical failure'. US officials said that there was no evidence that this helicopter was attacked by hostile forces although investigations are in progress. The mothers of the American servicemen in Afghanistan have to ask themselves, "Do we really believe that it was just another technical failure?" If it was another technical failure, then perhaps the families of those killed should pursue law suits for damages against the manufacturers of these helicopters, which malfunction every couple of weeks or so.

TRUCK DRIVER CRASHES INTO A US ARMY VEHICLE in KANDAHAR KILLING ALL FOUR OCCUPANTS INCLUDING ONE OFFICER

KANDAHAR (Special Report): A truck driver 'accidently' crashed into a US Army vehicle in Kandahar. In the western part of Kandahar, Mewand District, a speeding truck driver hit the front of a Toyota Corolla which was clearly marked with US markings. The truck was filled with sand and its driver managed to escape in another vehicle following the truck. According to eyewitnesses, the US vehicle was completely crushed and there were no chances of any of the four occupants surviving.

US FORCES SEARCH FOR KIDNAPPED US OFFICER IN KANDAHAR

KANDAHAR (Islam News): According to information received from Kandahar, US soldiers have started search operations of cars with the cooperation of the local government, following the kidnap of a US Officer by unknown men. 30 US- manned checkpoints have been set up between the Irghisan Bridge at Chaman and Kandahar, searching every car that passes.

I've got a feeling the fix is in for Saddam. Why? Standard Operating M.O. for the U.S. Break the evidence justifying the attacks right before action. Support for this? Two recent news stories. (1) Breakthrough is close on the Anthrax cases. Despite what we've been led to believe by this same government, expect to find out in the next few weeks that the Anthrax is of Iraqi origin.(2) Yesterday there was a story on a "breakthrough" or "significant new leads" in the investigation of the bombing of the USS Cole. Expect the Iraqis to be implicated. Now this.

When you add it up, there will be justification for an attack. Yesterday there was a report in Pravda, via DEBKA, (immediately suspect) that the U.S. was planning on attacking Iraq by mid-February. 75,000 US troops expected to fight. But in conjunction with the foregoing stories, it looks like it may add up.

I forgot another interesting tidbit. Yesterday, the US announced that it was no longer enforcing Muslim Dress code requirements for its female personnel in Saudi. Was this in response to the Lawsuit filed by the US Military woman stationed there? Doubt it. She's in the military and the courts are likely to say that she has to abide its rules as long as there is a valid military reason for them. More likely, what you are seeing is a message to Saudi Arabia that "We don't care what you think, get in line". This is the attitude that will be needed if there is action against Iraq.
