FReeper names explained
My curiousity | Now | Yours truly

Posted on 01/18/2002 5:03:35 PM PST by Come get it

Some FReepers have nicks that are obvious in their origin, others don't. I've seen several that probably have interesting stories behind them.

I thought it would be cool to see where FReepers get their handles from. If you don't like this topic, DON'T POST HERE! No one forces you to read this. I'm sure other people may be interested. If I'm the only one, let me know so I can crawl away in shame.

Oh yeah, definitely. Ping me when it starts up.
For anybody out there that likes Bluegrass, I mean the good stuff, here's a great streaming audio link:
Bluegrass Country
Just click on 'Play' on the top bar.

There was an early-70's British sitcom called "Doctor in the House" about a bunch of med school students.

One of them, a fellow by the name of "Duncan Waring", was always either up to no good or getting into trouble.

That be me.

"why is your pirate sticking a banana in his eye? "

I was hoping no one would notice.
He's scratching at the eyepatch. It's itchy, you know? Actually, it's a raised cutlass. I'll have to work on the graphic.

Samuel Beckett --- a great playwright with whom I share a sour, rather gloomy disposition.

Nothing happens, nobody comes, nobody goes, it's awful!

Waiting for Godot, act I

Estragon: I can't go on like this.
Vladimir: That's what you think.

Loyalist: For my United Empire Loyalist ancestors on my father's side of the family, who came north from Georgia after the American War of Independence.

Many Loyalists lost their fortunes for remaining loyal to King George III and had to start all over again in strange new lands.

The provinces of Ontario and New Brunwsick were founded by Loyalists.

At least 3 million Canadians have at least one Loyalist ancestor.

Without the Loyalists, Canada as we know it would not exist today.

It also honours King George III, who granted the Royal Charter to my alma mater , University of King's College, in 1788.

My name was assigned by JimRob. It is half right: it should read 'SmartStrawberryBlonde'.

I was in ESPN's Fantasy Baseball Chat Room one night under the very original handle of John K. Somebody told me that my nickname sucked, so I had to come up with a new one. At the time I owned a comic book/sportscard store, and wanted a cool comic book sounding name, but Rotoman was taken (Greg Ambrosious, I think) and I was listening to Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger at the time, so BADROTOFINGER (in all caps, like a comic book cover) I was. It is a cool handle, and I dont have to worry about anyone taking it (tho some poser at sandbox.com took it, the a**hole)...JFK
