I can't figure it out by looking at the IRS site, so let me ask it here: what is the cutoff for each tax bracket? How much would I have to make to put me into one of the top three brackets?
Thanks for any help!

Whatever you pay isn't enough. There are government programs to pay for.

Don't forget that anyone who makes between 27K and 110K and who is to recieve the bulk of the planned tax cuts are considered "wealthy" by Daschle and Teddy. What a joke! 27K and a family is actually borderline poverty.

Thanks. Can you tell me who qualifies as a head of household? If I live alone, do I fall into that category?
To: The Old Hoosier
No, you have to have a dependent.

No, you have to have a dependent. I don't think he's old enough to have to wear those yet

Thanks. Can you tell me who qualifies as a head of household? If I live alone, do I fall into that category?Unless your supporting parent who can be claimed as your dependent, you can only get HOH status if a child is living with you.

If I made 100k, I would consider myself wealthy. There's a snitch in Dallas that police paid $200,000 to in 2 years.
I wonder if he has paid any income taxes?

Don't forget to subtract $7450 (if single) or double that (if married) from your gross income, before looking at the tables.

from the irs
faqI'm single, live alone, and have no dependents. Can I file as head of household?
No. To use this filing status, you must have paid over half the cost of keeping up a home for you and a child or other qualifying person for over half the year. For detailed information, refer to Tax Topic 353, What is Your Filing Status, or Publication 501, Exemptions, Standard Deduction, and Filing Information.
