Dear Ms. (HLL)
Greetings from a staff member of Carrier Air Wing ONE deployed on board the USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71). First of all, let me state that I am honored to write and say "thank you" the donation of the heart filled stockings. They are truly beautiful and a blessing. We enjoyed the products inside but the personnel from my office was most blessed by the beauty of the stockings. You have to remember, we did not have much holiday decorations and then these beautiful stockings arrived. Men and women were fighting over them....they are absolutely beautiful. The products most useful is the hygiene items. These items go so quickly from the small ship's store. So you can imagine the smiles on our faces when we saw necessities!!!!
I am not a pilot and do not wear a flight suite but I will pass my lovely scarf onto my immediate supervisor, Captain Cathey, who is a F18 pilot. He will get some great use out of it. He will be most appreciative.
I did go to the FREE REPULIC webpage and searched for "THE GUILD" but nothing ever showed up on the computer and a message came back stating the search was unable to find "THE GUILD"..so I am not educated on your organization and would truly be interested in learning. As well, I have never been to the Michigan area and would love to hear more about both if your time permits.
Well, a little about myself. I am a Naval officer and have been in the Navy for 18 years. Out of the those 18 years, 13 years were spent as an enlisted woman and then I applied for a commissioned and here I am 6 years later still progressing. Prayer is Powerful. I am in charge of the administration department for the Air Wing Staff which is directly responsible for the eight aviation squadrons who fly the planes. So we are about 1200 people complement that come on board to invade the ship prior to the cruise. It is love and war...the ship needs us to do its mission and we need the ship to support our flying mission...we learn we complement each other. I love my job and am extremely proud of what we are doing right now. This is not like any regular deployment and we know we are loved back home and that makes it even more worth the while.
Alright, I will take up too much of your time. I just wanted to ensure I expressed to our appreciation for your support and let you know we did receive the beautiful stockings. Mine will remain handing until we return to Virginia.
God Continue to Bless You!

Wow, that must have been alot of work....how many of them did you guys send out?
What a wonderful idea! I will pick up some things for the packages as soon as I have a chance to do so, and will bring them to the FReep the Friday after this one. Let me know if you have any specific ideas for things that we should include. :-)
We sent 44 boxes so far. It has to be over 400 stockings. The ladies didn't just send one stocking each, I got at least 25 boxes, all with multiple stockings. This is just one letter from one box. Every single box we sent was just jammed packed with stuff. First we sent hundreds of hand made scarves, and then stockings. We all donated things and then I purchased a bunch of the toiletries and stuff to save on postage.
Amy, be sure to let me know what I can contribute to the Valentines packages for our servicemen, and when you need to have everything ready to send off. :-)
F A N T A S T I C !!!!!!!!!!
This really makes my day, how wonderful.
We sent some small ones to you before but he has some bigger ones that woyld be 'perfectER'. giggle.
As soon as I get them I will send them to you.
What are you telling these companies in order for them to ship you merchandise for the troops? Do you do it as an individual or are you using the name of an organization with a non-profit ID#? Do you issue a receipt for contributions for their tax records? How do you decide who you're going to call for contributions? Any help would be greatly appreciatied.
Last year we had a deep snow cover on thawed ground, and the snow acted as insulation over the soil,, there wasn't much frost in the ground. Altho I like the idea of that for my perennials and shrubs, apparently it is not conductive to good farming conditions.
