I received the most horrific email at 5am today that I hope I ever get. A close friend in a nearby city wrote the following:
Did you get my message? This is not a joke. Someone broke into my parents house on Wed night around 11 and killed them. My aunt found them at 4pm on Thurs. Call me.
Somebody actually murdered two of the lovliest people God ever put on this earth. The police are saying little except they originally thought it could be a murder-suicide, but evidence, including the fact one of their vehicles was taken, points to homicide.
Sandy is doing amazingly well. Maybe it's all the prayers!

This is very good news - thank you for posting this update! Prayers continue for Sandy - and very glad to hear she is doing amazingly well. Prayers also continue for justice to be done and God bless the police and others working to bring your friend's parents' killer to justice!
Suspect arrested in double homicide

RACINE -- Police have arrested a suspect in the homicides of Herman and Carol Petersen, the couple found stabbed Jan. 3 after an apparent burglary at their Republic Avenue home.
Eric Webb, 26, of Racine is being held in the Racine County Jail on a probation hold. As of Wednesday morning he had not been officially charged in connection with the murders. He is expected to appear in Circuit Court on Thursday.
Racine police arrested Webb Tuesday night. However, details of the investigation and arrest have not yet been released.
The Petersens, ages 72 and 69, were found dead Jan. 3 by Herman Petersen's sister. The couple was found on the floor of their home at 3725 Republic Ave. They had both been stabbed multiple times.
In the days afterward, police said they believed the murders occurred during a burglary. Investigators said it was possible that a burglar had entered the home intending only to steal, but was confronted by the Petersens.
Police said there was no visible sign of forced entry into the home.
Webb has a lengthy history of felony arrests, including charges of burglary, robbery, battery, criminal trespassing and criminal damage to property. He also was convicted in 1995 of attacking a woman in her home when she wouldn't give him her purse.
In October of 1995 Webb was arrested after he attacked a 27-year-old woman when she attempted to stop him from taking her purse in an apartment in the 1600 block of West Street. Reports said she was thrown onto stairs and had her head pushed into a wall in her home.
Webb pleaded guilty to substantial battery and theft from a person. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
In March of 1999 he was arrested for burglary and in January of 2002 he was convicted of criminal trespassing. He has also spent time in jail for bail jumping, disorderly conduct and obstructing an officer, and been fined for drug possession.
I just want to cry. It is the same old story. This young man should have been removed from society a long time ago. Long before he was able to escalate his crimes to this level. We'll never learn.
!!!! This is so tragic! You are right - revolving door "injustice" system was directly responsible for the murder of these two "senior citizens" - parents of your friend.
That is why pattern of behavior is so important in looking at crimes. Sometimes the perpetrators are "first time" criminals. But more than not - they are people who have done violence to others - and basically got away with little if any punishment for prior crimes.
I wish that somehow the judges or sentencers for previous crimes could be sued or the parole board - when violent criminals are let out - only to do worse things to more victims later!
As evidence simply look at the riduculous jury awards for a woman tripping over her own toddler in a store a breaking her ankle, a woman awarded millions for spilling McDonalds coffee into her own lap, etc, &c .... Society rewards those in the wrong, even in non-criminal cases. Murderers and other felons have nothing to fear from our criminal justice system. Even those convicted know that freedom can be bought (if you know the right President), and the Hollywood mediots can always be counted on to defend the incomprehensible actions of the dregs of society.
Justice will be served one day, I pray that they reconcile their actions with their maker before it's too late. Until punishment is FEARED - it is not a deterrent. Justice has not been served.
I hope that having the murderer under lock and key will give Sandy some sense of peace about this. Prayers continue for strength and comfort for her and greater peace as well as continued healing. May she feel the love of God in her life in spite of so much tragedy!
Thanks for the flag, Kayak.
