THE folks at Msnbc are talking to former Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Alan Keyes about hosting a 10 p.m. show up against Fox News' new hire, Greta Van Susteren. Meanwhile, Van Susteren, a lawyer before her O.J. Simpson commentary turned her into a CNN star, reportedly has penned an eight-page memo detailing CNN's demerits. She plans to keep the document secret as long as CNN doesn't try to paint her as an ungrateful traitor.

"Why would you be hurt?
Can't you take it when people don't agree with you?
Why not take a hint and FIND ANOTHER LINE OF WORK?"
# 150 by Howlin

In context, the "line of work"
you refer to is my duty as a voter.

You're telling me to stop participating
in my own government.

Make me.

Oh, Mr. Keyes must be so proud to have you as his defender.

ROTFLOL !!!!!!!!! Isn't it rich? I was just about to remark on this character and how pitiful his/her/its attempt at flaming is. It's embarrassing, but not uncommon in the Kingdom of Keyes.

. If you don't agree with them, you are lessor than them -- specifically, you are not as moral, as intelligent and now, as patriotic as them.

Not being an exhaustive pursuer of these threads, I know that I have never said that any of you are less moral, intelligent, or patriotic because of the fact of your disagreement. It is the METHOD of your disagreement, and your admitted personal agendas that convict you of these charges.

No, I'm saying that if Mr. Keyes finds that 95 percent of the people in his chosen party do NOT agree with him, why doesn't HE find another line of work?

Actually, Dr. Keyes shares many of my views. I just do not like his presentation and his attitude to the President, who is, after all, the person who won the election. I also find some of his supporters repellant in their behavior.

Petty incidents off the top of my head:

1.)Long after he had come to the point of having NO chance of winning, he was in Oklahoma saying that Bush would lose, and that he, Keyes, was the only one who could beat Gore in a debate. He said he would be back to say "I told you so." PhiKapMom has the newpaper articles from that incident, and she and another Oklahoma freeper heard him say this on the radio. I think this was petty.

2.)Then there was his roundabout criticism of Laura Bush, discussed here a couple of weeks ago, in which he said he agreed with her comments, but it was such a shame she didn't discuss abortion in her ONE MINUTE SPEECH. Petty!

Then there was the "massa" comment, which I will not discuss, as it gets me quite angry.

There are plenty more, but if you don't like President Bush, it is perhaps understandable that you wouldn't notice them. Bush supporters do, and his failure to withdraw from the Presidential race was disloyal in the extreme for a Republican (although I understand that his supporters think that principle is more important, and they do not see it that way). However, the Bush people DO see it that way, and this is no doubt why Dr. Keyes was not nominated for any position within the Administration.

Plus, isn't anyone curious about his relationship with Bill Kristol, who was his college roomate, and who is CONTEMPTUOUS of conservative Christians? I find it interesting that those two had a long relationship, although they are at opposite wings of the party. One would think that Dr. Keyes would be hard pressed to have a kind word for neo-con Kristol.

Apparently the Keyes supporters forget that debate in which then Governor Bush showed up to debate Dr. Keyes, when there was no one left but McCain. He could have bowed out of that, since McCain didn't show up in person...but he did show up. Funny how those courtesies are forgotten.

I haven't forgotten.

There was McCain on a TV thing and Bush and Keyes in person.

If Bush had not shown up, it would have been Keyes in person and McCain on the TV.

It was hosted by The Los Angeles Times. It was March 2, 2000.

After you mentioned it, I found my tape and am watching it right now.

I taped ALL of the debates. Keyes won them all.

Republicans said, "So he won the debates, but he can never win, so don't waste your vote".

Do you remember when Bush said Congress was going to cut taxes on the backs of the poor?

I do.

Perhaps you should find another book to read, since your allusions to the characters in Tolien's book are merely proving that you know every little obscure person (including the spider-type creature, which was a very nasty PERSONAL insult). In fact, if you persist with this I will report you.

I myself do not enjoy being accused of being in league with Lucifer. I have endeavored to be courteous, but you are stretching my patience.

This charge has been denied, and has not been documented. Individual 2nd and 3rd hand remarks are notoriously unreliable.

So here the point is that, while Keyes admired what Mrs. Bush said, and praised her for saying it, he was not, shall we say, 'slavishly' uncritical of her. Oh yes, how dare he have his own opinion.

Do you realize that George Bush showed up at that debate KNOWING that he would probably be outshone by Keyes, and that if he hadn't shown up, NO ONE WOULD HAVE TELEVISED IT?

"Ah, how was my attack dishonest?"

She said, # 131, that Bush did fund stem cell research.

You responded to that truth by saying
So, Bush is evil?
Huh? Huh?

I know that's not word for word, Howlin.
The rant is in the context.

I see. Eyewitnesses, newspaper accounts, and radio reports are all lies. You are saying that all of these people made up the same lie so that Keyes could be persecuted. Right.

Yes, his comment about Laura Bush was petty, in that she was making a one-minute speech about rights for Afghan women, who DO NOT BELIEVE IN ABORTION ANYWAY, and to expect her to say something about American abortion rates in that one-minute time frame WAS petty.

You are rapidly revealing your true character. People can judge for themselves.

Based upon this statement of Dr. Keyes thinking: '-- nobody else has anything worthwhile to say and GW is worse than Hitler".' I would put you as lessor than, shall we say, Hitler.

You damn right it's not word for word; not even close.

What I DID SAY:

As far as I can see, Alan Keyes is the only one on that list to infer that Bush made his decision about stem cells because Bush picked EVIL over good.

It appears that YOU are the one being dishonest.

Bush wasn't afraid of Keyes, Miss Marple.
Bush isn't stupid, either.

Bush IS a politician,
with justifiable confidence
in his ability to avoid the issues.

Keyes spoke to the issues,
and gave honest opinions
as to his thoughts on those issues
and to his proposed solutions.

Bush smiled, and talked,
and looked good,
and said nothing.

Right back at ya.

One, what is my personal agenda -- that is where did I say I supported or opposed someone because I liked or disliked them.
Two, please cite, from this thread, any attacks on you prior to any attacks you made on the Ambassador.
