I was just informaed by American Perservitive that it was Monaco, NOT Morraco.
Needless that error because it was in the lead post resulted in the deletion of that discussion. For that I apologize.
The discussion has been about the bump and ping lists and why some people find these lists to be of value. It recived over 15 responses in it's original thread.
Unfortunately I did not print out the original article so I can't offhand remember what was said but Nonetheless we will go ahead and continue with this discussion with part 2.
Bump for more responses.

I have a North Carolina ping-list.
The message below is what I almost always include when I use the ping list.
Also, I try to use my list sparingly and not for everything that catches my fancy.CD
----------------------
Please Freepmail me if:1) You want to be added to my North Carolina ping-list.
2) You no longer want to be included in this North Carolina ping-list.FRegards,
Constitution DayOld North State bump-list:
Articles relating to North Carolina, NC politics and NC people.
To add to this list, type *Old_North_State in the "To:" field.

The ping lists have my vote. I'd miss a lot of excellent articles if not for the ping lists. Who has time to peruse every last article on Free Republic? Not me, and not anyone who actually has a life, for that matter.
My question--what's all the griping about, anyway? Most ping lists are comprised of one line of names, no more than that. They can be very long lines, but most of the line is not visible. It seems to me that whoever's doing the complaining would complain about the sky being blue or the night being dark.
So--to the carping malcontents--don't go away mad, just go away. Please.

Thanks.
I just created an "Orthodox" bump list for the Orthodox Christians on the board.
Letting the Orthodox know that you can add *Orthodox in the "To" to put something in the Orthodox bump list. (Don't feel obligated to respond to this.)

I have no ping lists and never will because, for the most part, I find them irritating. It is especially irritating when one is on the ping list of several people (or even twice on one person's list). I receive pings to the same article upwards of 3-4 times, even after I've already seen it and probably left a comment.
Having said that, there are times when I choose to ping a select group of people, though it is a different set of people everytime.

What are ping and bump lists...
Have you ever been to a ballgame where someone pulled out a beachball, and people kept punching it so that it bounced all over the stadium? This is the same thing. Some people like it, some don't. It can either be a distraction or entertainment, but the cops aren't going to stop it in any case.

I don't see what the problem with them is. I for one like them, two sets of eyes are better than one.

Just ask the people pinging you to take you off their list.
Problem solved.

I like being pinged most of the time. I'd never see some of the posts that I liked best if I wasn't on a list.

Bush is in the safest possible place --America. We have to be alert now, but the President is the best example by showing us how to openly and deliberately go about our business. Leaders do that.
