I am pleased to send warm greetings to all who are celebrating Kwanzaa.
Established in 1966, Kwanzaa represents an African-American and Pan-African holiday celebrating family, community, and culture. The seven-day observance, beginning December 26 and ending January 1, serves as a special time to recog-nize and reaffirm the Nguzo Saba, or Seven Principles, of African culture. These are unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith.
Kwanzaa provides an opportunity for people of African heritage, regardless of their religious background or faith, to come together and to show reverence for their Creator and creation, to commemorate the past, to recommit to high ideals, and to celebrate the good in life. These life-affirming traditions take on particular resonance this year, as the United States and the world face new challenges to peace. As individuals, families, and communities take part in this celebration of unity and of enduring values, I extend best wishes to people throughout the globe for a wonderful and memorable Kwanzaa. Best wishes on this special occasion.
GEORGE W. BUSH

So Bush throws a bone to the black community with some nice note.
I really don't see the problem.
foreverfree
This is a marxist festival. I have no idea why the President would take time out to pay attention to such PC crap. This really gives the festival some legitimacy, if an alleged conservative President would extend best wishes of Kwanzaa. What next? Would he be wishing the best for some Wiccan festival? There is no difference between the two, except people who celebrate Kwanzaa actually vote. This is nothing but pandering, but sadly that 9% will not change remarkably. Bush isnt a good politician either.
See# 13......THAT was pandering..
No it doesn't. It's a nice gesture. It prevents blacks from saying Bush is ignoring them. They really don't care if he approves of Kwanzaa or not.

If the 9% won't change, how is it pandering?
Bush isnt a good politician either.
On the contrary, Bush is sitting at 90% approval rating, and just kicked Daschle's butt over the stimulus package. He's an outstanding politician.
My local library is having craft programs & family nights for Kwanza....but didn't do anything special for Christmas or Hanukah. Why are public funds allocated to promote this created holiday?
I plan to call tomorrow and tell them that giving Kwanza special recognition OFFENDS me!
