These are unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith.

This is a marxist festival. I have no idea why the President would take time out to pay attention to such PC crap. This really gives the festival some legitimacy, if an alleged conservative President would extend best wishes of Kwanzaa. What next? Would he be wishing the best for some Wiccan festival? There is no difference between the two, except people who celebrate Kwanzaa actually vote. This is nothing but pandering, but sadly that 9% will not change remarkably. Bush isnt a good politician either.

No it doesn't. It's a nice gesture. It prevents blacks from saying Bush is ignoring them. They really don't care if he approves of Kwanzaa or not.

If the 9% won't change, how is it pandering?

Bush isnt a good politician either.

On the contrary, Bush is sitting at 90% approval rating, and just kicked Daschle's butt over the stimulus package. He's an outstanding politician.

Precisely!! When it was the Clintoons celebrating this hippie marxist black nationalist crap, everyone expected it. But Bush carrying on the idiotic tradition lends it legitimacy. He blew it - for whatever reasons: being politically correct, politicking, pandering, or just sheer stupidity - he definitely blew it.

As if pandering to the black supremacists and virulent marxists would swing a single vote of theirs to a Republican. It's just plain stupid to think that it would. It was lose/lose for Bush to recognize Kwanzaa - blacks will recognize it as pandering and conservatives will be put out to see him recognizing a marxist, racist observance.

I really hoped he knew better.

He didn't. His staffers simply put out the same release that went out for the last who knows how many years. The White House issues greetings and other ceremonial gestures for just about everything. When one of my wife's relatives turned 100 years old, she also received an official "White House greeting." The president probably didn't even have a clue it even went out, he doesn't have time for such minutia. It means nothing.

Don't forget that President Bush is the president of all the people. Not just conservative Republicans. If I decided to get a few friends together and have a beer-drinking festival every year, I'd probably get an official White House greeting too.
