Don't stop because I don't respond. However I will move along at my own pace if you don't mind. Are you familiar with Matthew Henry? He has a commentary on the pre-existance of Jesus at
blueletterbible.orgThis is an excerpt: He is discussing Proverbs chapter eight. I am curious if you agree with him.
Pro 8:12-21
Wisdom here is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge; it is Christ in the word and Christ in the heart, not only Christ revealed to us, but Christ revealed in us.
It is the word of God, the whole compass of divine revelation; it is God the Word, in whom all divine revelation centres; it is the soul formed by the word; it is Christ formed in the soul; it is religion in the purity and power of it.
Glorious things are here spoken of this excellent person, this excellent thing.
Cheers:^)

Some are, some aren't. Same as Methodists, Lutherans, Presbyterians, and others. There are probably some Christians in the UMC - although they have one famous member that I question because of her heinous works, that I know about.

you're doing just fine ... however a person either believes or doesn't ... if not, they can search the Scriptures without end, always learning yet never able to come to the Truth ... the responses are clear ... in fact, I've learned along the way that many know they are clear, yet choose to create division ... the Deity of Christ is revealed to the believer ... the Scriptures are clear and it is known ... those who don't know the Deity of Christ are lost according to John and the Gospels ... even John 6:66 and the prior verse are pretty interesting ... FReegards ...
To: eazdzit;RnMomof7;a contender
Thank you RnMomof7 CI wrote the following earlier today (it is not as eloquent as yours), but did not have time then to post it:
Genesis 1:1: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Colossians 1:16 : For by him [Jesus] were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him
and then verse 17: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
John 1:1 "the Word was God" [Jesus is the Word]
John 1: 3 : All things were made by him [Jesus]; and without him was not any thing made that was made
1) God created the heaven and the earth....All things were created by Jesus. Therefore Jesus is God.
2) Jesus is called "the mighty God, The everlasting Father" in Isaiah 9:6. Therefore Jesus is God.
3) Jesus risked the wrath of the mob by calling himself "I am," [John 8:58] knowing they would realize he was saying he was God. Therefore, either Jesus was a liar and a provocateur, or...
Jesus is God!
[Isaiah 9:6: For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.]
And eazdzit, are you NOT trying to say Jesus is human only, and not divine? The Bible speaks of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, and I do not pretend to understand with my puny human understanding how God is one and yet God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
Isaiah 55:8: For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. verse 9: For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. With God all things are possible. If you are bothered by what you perceive as a suggestion that Christ was created, just realize that if God had wanted Jesus Christ to be both created by Him and equal with Him, that is the way it would be, because with God all things are possible. He has all power. I do not think a careful study of the scripture supports the idea that Jesus was created. But the scriptures do say Jesus was God.
Cheers.

An interesting question.
Before trying an "aha!" type discussion with the bishop at the (Beachy Amish) fellowship, I asked which would take precedence in case of disagreement: the KJV (that's the English translation we use) or the Luther German Bible.
He replied that the German translation would be considered more accurate. So, I guess it is up to each church which translation they would prefer to trust.

The geneologies of Jesus in Matthew and Luke are not the same, which one is correct.
Answer: They BOTH are!
One is the lineage from the Mary's side.
Matthew 1
1. A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham:
2. Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,
3. Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar, Perez the father of Hezron, Hezron the father of Ram,
4. Ram the father of Amminadab, Amminadab the father of Nahshon, Nahshon the father of Salmon,
5. Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab, Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth, Obed the father of Jesse,
6. and Jesse the father of King David. David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah's wife,
7. Solomon the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, Abijah the father of Asa,
8. Asa the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of Jehoram, Jehoram the father of Uzziah,
9. Uzziah the father of Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, Ahaz the father of Hezekiah,
10. Hezekiah the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amon, Amon the father of Josiah,
11. and Josiah the father of Jeconiah and his brothers at the time of the exile to Babylon.
12. After the exile to Babylon: Jeconiah was the father of Shealtiel, Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel,
13. Zerubbabel the father of Abiud, Abiud the father of Eliakim, Eliakim the father of Azor,
14. Azor the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Akim, Akim the father of Eliud,
15. Eliud the father of Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob,
16. and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17. Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Christ.
18. This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
19. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
20. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
And, for those who would NOT believe "
because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit", there is a line from Joseph's side.
Luke 3:23-38
23. Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry. He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph, the son of Heli,
24. the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melki, the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph,
25. the son of Mattathias, the son of Amos, the son of Nahum, the son of Esli, the son of Naggai,
26. the son of Maath, the son of Mattathias, the son of Semein, the son of Josech, the son of Joda,
27. the son of Joanan, the son of Rhesa, the son of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, the son of Neri,
28. the son of Melki, the son of Addi, the son of Cosam, the son of Elmadam, the son of Er,
29. the son of Joshua, the son of Eliezer, the son of Jorim, the son of Matthat, the son of Levi,
30. the son of Simeon, the son of Judah, the son of Joseph, the son of Jonam, the son of Eliakim,
31. the son of Melea, the son of Menna, the son of Mattatha, the son of Nathan, the son of David,
32. the son of Jesse, the son of Obed, the son of Boaz, the son of Salmon, the son of Nahshon,
33. the son of Amminadab, the son of Ram, the son of Hezron, the son of Perez, the son of Judah,
34. the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Terah, the son of Nahor,
35. the son of Serug, the son of Reu, the son of Peleg, the son of Eber, the son of Shelah,
36. the son of Cainan, the son of Arphaxad, the son of Shem, the son of Noah, the son of Lamech,
37. the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mahalalel, the son of Kenan,
38. the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.
1 Timothy 1
3. As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain men not to teach false doctrines any longer
4. nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These promote controversies rather than God's work--which is by faith.

Why is that nonsensical to you? Why wouldn't Jesus Christ shed his blood for these fictitous "pre-historic" men. They are part animal and part man right? What was the first man that would qualify for redeeming? How long ago did he come into existance? Was his DNA (i.e. Lucy the arangatan) the same as ours? According to the Laws of Thermodynamics we are devolving not evolving. Man started out (according to the God of the most High) as being in a perfect place, under the most perfect conditions, then man was kicked out of this garden. Now man is trying to get back to this garden. Anyone who has owned a used car knows everything devolves. If I leave food in my fridge for a week, it doesn't get better, it gets worse. It sure takes a lot of faith to believe in the THEORY of evolution. Saber tooth tigers were less evolved than the short tooth tigers of today? Mammoth Elephants were less evolved than the no haired smaller ones of today? Where are the "species" that replace all the extint ones today? Macro evolution is fantacy to those who reject the written word of God. The Laws of biogenesis, are just that, Laws. Life comes from life, you can't get around that. Darwins theory was based on the "simple cell" but if you go to the encyclopedia it will tell you it is no longer a "simple cell", it would take 100 million pages of the encyclopedia to describe the "simple cell" now according to the encyclopedia. Like I said in earlier posts, the advent of the discovery of DNA puts all macro evolution in the trash. As of even today, they are rewritting college textbooks to account for these discoveries. DNA cannot "evolve" ask any scientist that has worked with it. IT HAS TO BE CREATED!! That is what the pagan scientist are saying, not some christian...

(i.e. Lucy the arangatan) ROTFLMAO!!

It seems to me that SOME of us have not paid attention to previous posts, so, here they come in THIS group of fifty again!
Genesis 1:26-27
26. Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
27. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
1 Timothy 3:16
Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great: He appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.
Hebrews 10
5. Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: "Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me;
6. with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased.
Hebrews 2:14
Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death--that is, the devil--
How many times does God have to repeat himself before one should believe it?
Isaiah 9:6: For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Here is a situation where Jesus claimed divinity, but his hearers did not believe him:
John 8:57: Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
58: Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
59: Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
It upset those people that heard (and disbelieved) Jesus so much that they immediately wanted to stone him because they knew at that moment he was claiming to be God. Was Jesus lying to them? They did not misunderstand what he intended to say to them:
Exodus 3:13 & 14: And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
Regarding Matthew 10:28.... And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. [everlasting destruction--see below]
Hebrews 10:30: For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
31: It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
In Mark 3:29 Jesus said damnation was eternal.
In Matthew 23:33 Jesus warned the scribes and Pharisees of the damnation of hell.
Matthew 25:41 Jesus spoke of everlasting fire, and in verse 46 he spoke of everlasting punishment.
II Thessalonians 1:8: In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
9: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
Matthew 13:41: The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; [verse 42:] And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
To teach a doctrine that there is no hell (i.e. eternal damnation, everlasting punishment) for those who do not obey God is to deliver a false doctrine of great comfort and encouragement to all who want to live in disobedience, and it is not supported by the scriptures

2 Peter 2
1. But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.
2. Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.
3. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.

"Let those of you among you, who have no spellcheck, cast the first link to a dictionary or a phonics website"
(First Book of Elsie, Chapter One, Verse 3)
Luke 18:11-14
11. The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: `God, I thank you that I am not like other men--robbers, evildoers, adulterers--or even like this

12. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.'
13. "But the

14. "I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

Freeped on the second answer. I think not every detail is perfectly true mostly for the reason of translation errors and differences of nuance. For example, it matters to your English interpretation of the passage whether the translator used "air", or "spirit", or "breath" or "wind".

Exodus 3:6
Then he said, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob." At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.
Exodus 3:13-15
13. Moses said to God, "Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, `The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, `What is his name?' Then what shall I tell them?"
14. God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: `I AM has sent me to you.'"
15. God also said to Moses, "Say to the Israelites, `The LORD, the God of your fathers--the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob--has sent me to you.' This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.

It is the Holy Spirit that quickens us to understand...so I rarely expect to "change" anyone..but for those that have never considered it is good to hear both sides.
Mostly I love the name of Jesus..it is that name above all names by which we are saved. I just want to make sure that His name is accurately represented!

Those were not my words..they were the words of the church fathers and commentators from the past.
For anyone to think that they have "discovered" a "flaw " in the doctrine of the divinity of Christ is foolishness.
The heritics have always been with us :>)
