BILL WOULD GIVE TAX BREAK FOR GUN SAFES
Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle is expected to introduce legislation that includes a provision giving a $150 tax credit to individuals who purchase a gun safe.
It would also require licensed firearm dealers to inform customers of the tax incentive.
I didn't say that. Why would you say that I did?
BTW, where'd you read that the government was required to arm the militia?
Some of us are not going to wait on the government to arm us or to refund us for arms storage.
They still are.
I think taking money from people for no good purpose at all is much worse!
Each year there will be more requirements until they are prescribing style and brand, and maybe even intended use...
You like the idea because you it fits an interest. If you were a star-gazer, then you'd like a tax credit for a new telescope.
But the priciple question still remains: Should the tax code be used to shape social behavior or to raise money?
Did you examine exactly why you are laughing? Could it be that you don't believe the Liberals think folks should know how to be safe?
(Actually, I think Liberals believe people should get hurt in stupid accidents for no other reason than such accidents serve as a justification for a bigger budget for the Consumer Product Safey Commission).
That would depend on a technical classification of 'safe'.
No, actual safes are several hundred dollars, but you can find security cabinets and boxes for $30 on up.
Really? Evidence, please. Especially about owning guns being "rare."
BTW, if you have a big problem with using the tax code to "mold behavior", take it up with your Congressman - not me. Whether I agreed with you or not, there's not a whole lot I could do about it, eh?!
At the moment I have this sucker Daschle on the line for a $150 tax credit to help the militia store their very own weapons safely.
It's the first decent thought he's had in about 20 years, so I don't want to scare him away.
No need to make guns and expolsive required high school courses. None. High schools are NOT the places for paramilitary training.
However, the Scouts used to offer gun safety training, and most communities can still offer fire arms safety and other safety classed via the local fire department.
Anyone can tell I suggested that NOT OWNING A GUN was rare in the old days. People who argue that gunownership was rare "way back when" are, to say the least, full of it, right?!
Hook, line, and sinker.
Highschool is the proper place to teach these things. I know it's a little short of UMT, but that's the other option.
Well, we either decide that it's ok and try to ride the gravy train or we decide that it is not ok and work to change the system.
Are tax codes supposed to be for raising money or for shaping behavior?
What the hell does that mean? I guess I missed the high school explosive elective.
No one is more RKBA than I, but you aren't making much sense.
No dice, Dasshole. If I have a gun safe, it is not any of your or the government's business!
I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.
