Survey finds 10 partners before marriage 'normal'
The majority of young people think it is normal for a person to have at least 10 sexual partners before marriage.
A survey has also found that three in 10 believe it is acceptable for a girl to lose her virginity before the age of 15.
Research carried out by Brook, the youth sex advisory service, says there is a "cultural change" in young people's attitudes towards sex.
Some 64% of men and 54% of women agreed that it was acceptable for a person to sleep with more than 10 partners before getting married.
But the survey, which questioned people aged 17 to 25, also showed that they wanted more information about sex and contraception.
Men admitted to getting most of their knowledge about contraception from TV and magazines, while women learned the most from magazines and their mothers.
Half of all the young women surveyed said they wished that teachers had supplied them with more information about preventing pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.
Brook chief executive Jan Barlow said: "Young people have an increasing number of sexual partners and they are saying that's OK.
"But at the same time they don't have the information and access to services that they need.
"Young people must seek out advice and information in order to make their choices and to understand how to protect themselves both against pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases."
Not a chance!! If there is no love and no commitment (i.e. marriage), it's only play sex.......pretend........because you're missing the most important ingredients.
If you haven't had it, there's no way you could know what that means, but if you have, you'd know that sex with a stranger, empty and meaningless, could not even remotely compare to married, mature, emotionally and spiritually fulfilling sex.
Why the attempt to always divert and deflect?
That is a common experience today. Men and women talk but don't communicate. They have sex with each other, but not love. It is a sad situation.
That is why it is important for both men and women to eliminate the baggage.
BTW ... hows Martha doing .. hehehe
Let's put it this way :My issue with female 'baggage'is mostly about their emotional damage from previous relationships/dalliances, not with how they view sex. Is that better?
You are entitled to what you want to advise ... but I would do all in my power to keep my beautiful daughters away from your ilk until they were of age and chose for themselves, and you would be advising against and above someone I hold in the utmost esteem ... my God.
IMHO, your recipe and advise paves ther road to societal disaster ... whether you recognize it or not. Infedelity is a social ill and it weakens marriage and thus families ... whether it occurs before or during.
As I stated above in post 316 or so (I believe), the real issue here is whether people believe in God and then whether they have faith in Him and His Word.
My wife and I were both virgins and we are passionately grateful for it ... to one another and to God. In our faith, it makes what goes on between us better ... all mechanisms and positions and methodologies aside. You see, we don't care to know some of those things ... we have no need for it ... we are happy as we are and we discuss these things between ourselves and, as Merl Haggard said ... "We don't make a party out of lovinn'".
We figured it out ... what was best for us and had five kids together that way.
Just my perspective ... and not one I would ever force on anyone (except of course someone who was using your sophistry to try and get at my underage daughters), but I believe it is the traditional Christian one.
