Will some adult Democrats please inform Mary Frances Berry, head of the U.S. Civil Rights Commission, that last year's election is over and George W. Bush is President? Maybe then she will do her job and seat Peter Kirsanow, Mr. Bush's choice for the Commission's vacant slot.

This is one case in which Democrats should police their own.Fat chance. Name one time when they have EVER done so.

OK, I give up. Why won't the 'pubs kick this b*tch off the commission? She's black, right?
To: M. Thatcher
Fat chance. Name one time when they have EVER done so. They do it all the time. For example, they won't let anyone in the party speak out against abortion, support 2nd Amendment rights, support welfare reform, talk about tax cuts or cutting government, or even saying anything religous.

No, I mean "police their own" when "their own" does something WRONG.

The 1983 statute is clear: "Any member appointed to fill a vacancy shall serve for the remainder of the term for which his predecessor was appointed."
For those on this forum who keep saying the law is on Berrys side.(yes, there are some)
Ms. Berry will not quietly into the night, she is too used to the money and power her position affords her. President Bush indeed needs to say the heck with the aftermath, stand up to her and fire her hiney. The RATS love anything that causes disruption in his administrating his office, so they certainly won't police this terrorist. (that IMO is what she is.)

Dont worry...
They are gonna pull her chain soon enough...
They are probably waiting for Osama's death or Omar's capture, then they'll jerk her off during that news cycle...it'll be muted.

Members of the Civil Rights Commission, like members of other federal commissions, serve staggered terms. The purpose is to protect the Commission's independence and integrity, which would be compromised if each Administration were permitted to clean house and bring in its own people. We know Ms. Berry is familiar with this rationale, because it's hers. Staggering was put into the 1983 statute at her urging for these very reasons. That's the first I'd heard that the idea of staggering was one she had promoted.
I just hope she gets her comeuppance soon!

Well not by familial ties. Certainly they are intimately related by intellect, racial ideology, and politics, however.
