128K is what I get on my ISDN line (I'm in a small town and DSL and cable modems aren't available).

I'm willing to give AT&T the benefit of the doubt for now. They just got their new network on-line and I don't expect everything to be perfect right out of the gate. But AT&T better be hot on the trail of some solutions. If I don't see improvement pretty soon, I'll consider jumping over to another service.

AT&T in Chicago's West & North Suburbs... in a word: disaster.
Their consumer-realtions is embarassing... really, really bad....

I'm still @home. Will be until February I guess, then will be migrated to another service.

I was with @home now with AT&T in Arlington, Texas....the change over was smooth, down about 24 hours. Have not had one minute of trouble and the speed is as fast as before.

640kb/s w/ DSL (qwest). Had it 6 months. Not one bit of trouble, knock on wood.
$30/month for 24/7 service. I'd pay twice that without even thinking about it.

As you can see, at 83.1 Kbps, I'm no where near where I should be using AT&T Broadband. It is frustrating, but on the upside, I'm not getting anything near the number of attampts on my firewall that I got with @Home.

There was a hokey movie -- with a very pithy (and quite tinfoilesque) plot line -- made in the late '60s or early '70s called "The President's Analyst". I won't spoil the plot, since it's worth renting to watch, but I will mention something that sprang to mind when I read that article.
In the movie, James Coburn is talking with Omar Shariff (playing the part of a spy), who tells him that he's been in countless countries across the world, all completely different from each other, but in every country he'd ever been in, there was one thing they all had in common. Everyone, he said, in every country in the world, hates the phone company.

In my dealings with AT&T braodband, I can only say that it was a forgone conclusion that they would go bankrupt, it was just a matter of time. They have absolutely the worst customer service that any one could imagine. I could take pages to tell you the horror stories I had with them, but suffice to say, it was soooo bad that I am now a satellite internet user, and am much happier.

I'm back up on the AT&T network and things are actually peppier than they were on Excite. We are slightly faster on this system. The reporter for this article seems to have found a new disgruntled customers but I am very happy.

Livermore, CA... Since the change to Attbi, my connection has been as slow as 86 kbps, and as high as 867 kbps. When I was on Att@home I would connect at 3 times that fast or better. Now AT&T says there will be a 1500 cap,(that is if they ever get their network up and running PROPERLY. They said that they are thinking of "TIERED" service? They will probably want to charge me a ton of more money to get the same connection that I used to get at the same price. Unless I get my speed up SOON, I'm off to DSL (Earthlink), I want my money's worth. I try to get in touch on the phone, I have a hour wait, so I got on to chat, guess what? there waw 1500 people in front of me. Great customer service, huh? I also have AT&T Cable and long distance and local calling. Guess what??? If they don't clear up this mess those will be gone from my home also....... AT&T ARE YOU LISTENING??? I'm sure I'm not the only one frustrated to this extent. Thanks for letting me vent!!

As one of the "stranded customers in Pennsylvania", I'd be happy to have service! Apparently after coming into our market and selling cable modems like mad, AT&T has decided it doesn't really want us as customers after all.
While their website says my service should be restored by 12/14, our local paper says they are trying to sell us to Adelphia - which if succesful would get us cable-modem service again maybe in January!
Dialup isn't too hot around here either. Ironic, considering one of the country's main fiber-optic trunk lines runs within a mile of my house. But, DSL isn't available here either, so I'll have to settle for whatever I can get...
