Having Osama bin Laden on the ballot offends me deeply. He is the Asshole of the Year, not the Man of the Year.

That's the "understatement of the year."

bin Laden is "target of the year."

Have to wonder what bunch of dip-sh!ts would even think of bin Laden for the front cover of "Time"?

You know, there are a lot of heroes out there
and a lot of men and women
who are standing up for freedom
in a major way.
But the Capitol and White House
and other icons of our liberty
are standing safe today
because some ordinary Americans said
"NO WAY, we WILL NOT die YOUR way."
I am glad for Guiliani's strength
and that Blair and Bush are with us
BUT our nation is still standing
And in part that is because
Todd Beamer and his brothers
Took back the enemy's fourth bomb
and died to keep us free.
He had taken no soldier's oath,
he had no prior training
And they wouldn't let him carry
so he fought back with his hands.
Is there really any doubt
Who the Man of the Year should be?
Firemen and lawmen
carried out their risky duty
Bush and Guiliani fulfilled their solemn oath
But the men and women on the Hero Flight
Rose above any imposed duty!
Who made a bigger difference?
Who saved the greater good?
Who cut 9/11's losses?
THE HERO FLIGHT'S MEN SHOULD
GET EVERY CIVILIAN HONOR
Yes, including man of the year.
Everyone who rushed the cockpit of death
Deserves each honor we can spare.

I believe I'd vote for Donald Rumsfeld. Close second to Dubya and Guiliani.

Couldn't have said it better myself. A collage of these three would be the best thing we could do in supporting Enduring Freedom and supporting the Republic of the United States of America.

I believe Hitler was man of the year in the 30s or 40s.

I agree but I won't hold my breath waiting for Time to give them this honour. They screwed up Man of the Century. Getting 2001 right would be surprising.

Time's MOTY has always been the person who has had the most impact, for good or ill. Although GWB would be my emotional choice, I have to admit that OBL is probably the correct choice under that definition. As pointed out, past "winners" have included Hitler, Stalin and I believe Khomeni.

I seriously doubt that G.W. Bush is a contender for Time's 2001 Person of the Year, as he was designated same in 2000:

CLICK HERE: George W. Bush, Person of the Year 2000

When and if PROVIDES an online poll for the public to vote, I will cast my vote for Tony Blair, as I was MOST appreciative of his LOUD leadership in the immediate aftermath, ...those horrible ghastly days and hours right after the WTC Atrocity.

However, I presume that either Giuliani or Mussharif will receive this distinction.

I would HOPE that TIME Magazine will NOT bestow this "honor" upon OBL, but I wouldn't put it past them.
