"So when are you getting married???"
Recently, I've been hit with this IRKSOME Q three times over two consecutive days. I'm not even engaged yet!!
Wondering if any of you have suggestions on how to answer?
Many Thanks. :)

As it is lunchtime now, I can take some time to enjoy all the advice. Hehe!
Thanks to all! :)

I'm Catholic and we like to name our children after saints. So I used to torment my wife with names like "Polycarp."

If you just don't like people asking, start wearing a wedding band so they'll assume you're already married.

Let me rephrase. This ain't Miss Lonelyhearts. I don't think this forum is the place to ask for fashion advice, hair-styling tips, or real estate investments. Those are all valid subjects. But not here.
This is a pure vanity post, nothing more. And worst of all, it is a non-POLITICAL vanity post. Try a chat room.

Happily, free speech still seems alive & well in Free Republic, not to mention America!
Was there something you did not undersatnd in my post #138?
And how strange. I have seen quite a few non-political vanity posts in here since I joined, which, admittedly, was very recent.
I also find it curious that you have read & are posting in such a "lowly" thread. :)

Personally, I was disapponted that you didnt post this under Breaking News.
*LOL* Well, something tells me I could obtain some flames just by *thinking* that!

Happily, free speech still seems alive & well in Free Republic, not to mention America! Yawn. Here we go again. This is a private forum. "Free speech" has nothing to do with it. Would you go on a hunting thread and ask about what kind of wedding dress to buy? How about soliciting cooking tips on a veterinary bulleting board? YOUR POST IS INAPPROPRIATE FOR THE CONTEXT.

Was there something about "political" that escapes your grasp?
And how strange. I have seen quite a few non-political vanity posts in here since I joined, which, admittedly, was very recent.
And every one of THEM has been irrelevant too.
I also find it curious that you have read & are posting in such a "lowly" thread. :)
With the intention of pointing out that THIS DOES NOT BELONG HERE.

You can turn off "Your Opinion/Questions" so those posts are not visible to you.

I was under the impression that free republic was a conservative board. Does that include letting homosexuals post vanity posts about their lifestyle and, to ask advice regarding said lifestyle when, that lifestyle is opposed to the conservative view?I don't know of a single FReeper who admits to being a homo-sexual (except for Jen XXX, but only 10% of the time), there is one former homo-sexual, Tony the Tigger, but I don't think ex-homo-sexuals should count.
K2Blader put up this vanity post, are you accusing her of being a lesbian? Or are you accusing her of participating in the "homosexual lifestyle" because she doesn't want to get married any time soon? (I heard you guys on another thread say the whole "sexual revolution" was about homo-sexuality, even when the sex in question was hetero-sexual)
And the people making reference to gay marriage on this thread were JOKING, they weren't serious.

I'm beginning to think the reason I get "misclassified" is because of me.

Assuming you're a male:
"Janet said it will be when she wins Florida"
Come to think of it, may also work if you're a female.

By the way, photo number 4 in your profile is exactly how my garden is being landscaped (I figure about 5 years for it to grow in a little and look like that) Wow, congratulations. That is a beautiful garden.

Q: So, when are you getting married?
A1: When I finally find the woman who will destroy my life the least.
A2: When I finally complete my _insert_your_hobby_here_ collection.
A3: When I finally get sick and tired of freedom and independence.
A4: When I finally want someone to nag me to death.

Grandmother: 'Why aren't you married yet? '
Me: 'Women suck.'
Grandmother: Oh.
I love 'em, but they just don't understand that finding a mate is a tad bit harder than it used to be.

One thing I will say next time I have the opportunity to express what I'm thankful for, it will be that I do not know you.LOL! Are you so sure you don't?
To: George Smiley
I always wondered how that happened!! : )

It is very clear to me that you are rather "anti-vanity post." To which I will respond:
Let's examine the Free Republic
Posting Guidelines which make the request:
"Do keep 'vanity' posts to a minimum - Free Republic is primarily a place to discuss news, articles, and editorials. Vanity posts, creations of the poster him or herself, should meet a high standard of quality before one is even considered worthy of posting."
Though perhaps "non-political," my post was intended to address what I view as the escalating social problem of lack of courtesy with regard to prying questions about relationships and marriage in general. I assume this meets the "high standard of quality" desired by the Free Republic Admin., since the post hasn't, as of yet, been yanked.
Thus, contrary to your opinion, I believe this thread has merit, as further supported by the propagation of kindly, humorous, and helpful responses.
We will likely have to amiably agree to disagree on this issue.
May God bless you & yours this Happy Thanksgiving. :)
