Just reported on the 10 PM WBZ radio news broadcast:
FBI is seeking a rental type Ryder Van that was stopped trying to enter the parking garage at the Cambridge Mass Galleria mall at about 7 PM. When the back doors of the van were opened by security personnel, there were 6, 55 gallon drums duct taped to the vans walls along with gas type cans also taped to the walls.
The van then sped off. The FBI is asking for anyone seeing the van with possible license plate of 4789H7 to contact Police or the FBI.

This just was announced on the news in Boston. To the complete puzzlement of the leftists of Cambridge.

"Gas might be used as an accelerant to get the real stuff going." I believe you'd need a more efficient detenator for ANFO...if that's what is in the drums.

Yo, Terrorists. We've wised up to the Rider truck thing. Now go back and ask for your deposit back like a good little soldier.
Surely if they have the license plate, the FBI has already tracked down where it was rented from and by whom.

There have been two hoaxes going around the net. 1. Halloween Mall Hoax 2. My friend of a friend who works for the FBI said that Ryder trucks were stolen. It makes you go Hmmmmmm.....and maybe there was/is a grain of truth in them somewhere I wonder if the "stay out of Baltimore" hoax will go anywhere.

Must be right wing extreme Wiccan skinheads.Oh good, it's been years since we've had a good witch burning in Mass.

Maybe the security guards are to be commended here. After all, if they had succeded in stopping the van, the cornered terrorists might have detonated it under the mall. Now they are on the run and we have an idea of what they are up to. If they are cornered and decide to detonate, I much prefer it to be on an open road.

Better be cautious about malls. Yes as long as they leave these people in this country, I'm staying completely out of malls, amusement parks and anywhere there's a crowd. I'm also not flying.

Doesn't sound terribly effective, even if they were successful.

It's not odd at all - the object is to get people to stay home and not shop - shut down the economy! With the Christmas season coming (they know we're Christians), and they know we shop a lot at Christmas. What better time and what better place.

I'm sorry but this seems like a joke. These guys were able to identify all that stuff in this van and as soon as they did - it fled. Come on, this van would have fled BEFORE they had the time to identify the contents if it was real. I'm looking at all these replies and now I'm starting to get worried about all of you. Please calm down or we are really in trouble!!!!!!!! Thanks.
You are probably right, but taping 55 gal drums to the side of a van is a weird way of keeping them from moving about. It could end up being some guys delivering MSG or food supplies to local Chinese restaurants, and they panicked at getting stopped and inspected for some reason, but hopefully with all the notice the FBI is getting out over the radio, the public or the truckers around Boston and New England will spot the van, and the Police and FBI can figure out if this was a threat.

no-one has thought nuclear yet! drums filled with radioactive material exploding would spread radiation everywhere! lets hope it's not.
In cases like this, if the police would immediately notify all radio stations and ask everybody to keep an eye open for the truck, they would have already found it. No matter where that truck drove, it would be within site of vehicles listening to the radio, and cell phones are ubiquitous.

This is all thats there at this time:
Breaking News :
The FBI is searching for a suspicious truck in Cambridge. The truck was stopped at the Cambridge Galleria for carrying suspicious cargo, but the truck got away. Stay with 7News for details.

It'd seem to me that exploding such a device in an underground garage would contain the radiation, opposite to the goals of the terrorists.
