I'd say declaring "death to America" is in poor taste. I'd say calling the atrocity delivered to our shores which killed so many innocent people a "holy war" extremely poor taste. Charlie Daniels is perfectly free to say what he wants. It doesn't begin to compare to the obscenity of the radical Islamic fundamentalists.

Re: your objection to the Charlie Daniels song, "It Ain't No Rag, It's A Flag," please bear in mind that we are at war in consequence of an unprovoked attack on American soil. I can't speak for you, but just about everything else that I can think of, whether personal experience or advice after the fact, PALES in comparison with this dastardly act. It is the single-most bloody-minded piece of business of my life so far (and I'm 44 years old).

Now then, you are free to complain as much as you'd like, as you know. But you might as well get this straight: Americans are the politest and friendliest people in the world, and they are also a people with whom you best ought not to mess.

Well, some of YOUR co-religionists in the name of YOUR religion committed these murders. I hope you will understand how sore we are at them and how excruciatingly many of them are going to die.

Bearing that in mind, Mr. Hooper, please understand that your offense at a pop song is pretty small parrot-droppings compared to how offended the enemies of these United States, with or without rags on their heads, are at this moment. They are dying, and they are GOING to die.

Exactly...If they do not respect our very right to live, what message are we sending when we bend over backwards (or frontwards) to protect their sensibilities from mere words? The liberals who fuss over this, and who've made it plain that they regard all other Americans who're not part of their little social circle as neanderthals apt to murder the first female they see in a headscarf fail to understand one little thing : This "cultural sensitivity" is meant to show how enlightened we are, how calm and rational and fairminded and all those other things we value in our society . (But does the Taliban value these traits? Fundamentalist Islamic societies in general?) But Radical Islam sees it as cowardly appeasement, is emboldened to commit further outrages...and perhaps even sees it as an admission on our part that we secretly agree with them that Muslims are superior and destined to conquer the world.(No, I don't think that's an exaggeration ; these people are by definition insane. There's another article on FR in which it is revealed that certain African Muslims literally believe that the Afghans were able to "defeat" the Russians because they would 'pray over a grain of rice, throw it at a Russian tank, and the grain would explode, destroying the tank'. That's the mentality we're fighting.)
