It's been exactly three years since the Free Republic March for Justice was held on the Mall in Washington D.C., an event that will never be forgotten by those who were there and was directly responsible for inspiring the House Judiciary Committee to start impeachment proceedings agains Bill Clinton.
If you were there, sign in here and let everyone know how much it meant to you and a favorite memory of that historic day in the life of FreeRepublic and the United States of America
Deep blue sky, bright warm sun, and a strong autumn breeze that flew Old Glory in all her glory.
It was patriotic and it was perfect.
The most American I have ever felt.
The Texas contingent bought me beer; dang it...those were the best of times!
It was the most perfect Fall day...sunny & mild....got to meet Drudge & Teri & Don Adams. I will remember it forever!
BTW, you are the huggingest person I have ever known. You greeted me and everyone else I saw with hugs like we were very dear friends of yours for the longest time, yet having only just met. This is the one thing I will never forget about you, how much you love everyone; well, most everyone.LOL
And I'm STILL a hugger! hehe
I just did a site search on my handy dandy new google search task bar on my browser, and I found ALL of the Rush/MFJ threads (but they're all offline right now, in the archives). I haven't had much time to FReep or goof with my google task bar these days, but boy does it work! One of these days (perhaps for the 4th anniversary) I'll put together a post for an anniversary thread. I'd better start now, because with the small amount of spare time I have these days, it'll take me a year to put the thing together! LOL
And Mr. and Mrs. Ventana....and ken5050...or was that at a Freep on Capitol Hill?
Somehow, FR has become a Large & IMPORTANT part of our "Family!"
This "Place" has become a second--Exquisitely Important--"Home" to LOTS of us "Ordinary Americans" out here "on the 'Net!"
FR IS "America" to us; our "Town Hall," where we express our beliefs & thoughts & fears & Dreams for ourselves & for future American generations.
There CAN'T be many "Other Places" like this "Liberty Tree!"
There is NO way many of us can tell "JimRob" HOW SPECIAL & PRECIOUS FR is!
JimRob helped us get "W", instead of AlGore--an Historic change in our Nation's Government which may prove to be the difference between our Demise & our Survival as a nation! (there is Little Doubt that the "Planners" of 9/11 expected AlGore to be our current President!)
JimRob may WELL have "Mightily Contributed" to our continued existence as a Free People!
(So I'm a little "prejudiced!")
Doc
I have that problem, too. They were so very close together. By the time we got to the Capitol FReep, I think it was called the March for Judgment Justice Rally Day, at least in my mind! LOL
Then we went right into the planning of the House Managers salute rally and dinner in May. Jiminy Crickets!
Well, it's getting late, Fred. Thank you, again, for the flag and the reminisence.
My wife and I were there. I had not logged in as an official FReeper yet. I was in such awe of all of you big shots at the time and truth be told, I still am. I would spend all of my off work time reading FR, via Drudge, and relaying everything to my wife. You were all sooooo smart, witty, and insightful I was scared I would just embarrass myself if I ever joined. But I felt the LEAST I could do is make the trip from northern Maryland to take the place for all of the true FReepers that were too far away to be there themselves.
My wife and I got a hugh kick out of all the signs, and the little dog was hilarious. All the speakers were fantastic, CaL was not only a great host but also a foxy chick.
All in all it was just an honor for us to be amongst you intelligent and informed American patriots. I want to especially single out One Who Knows for all that he's taught me along the way. I wish I could have met you that day.
I didn't talk to anybody while I was there, we pretty much just held our signs while listening to, and cheering on, the parade of speakers, and Patriots like Jim Robinson. Just found out the annoying guy in the crowd was Esquire on this thread. What an unbelievable jerk that guy was, but the threads bashing him were soooo much fun to read.
That's all I want to say except, I really love all you guys, and I will always remember my first protest ever (was also at Cheney's house w/ Kristinn and Ironman etc.). You are all true American Patriots that inspire me to be the best American I can be everyday. But you're all so smart I still feel stupid when I post though, but I'm working on it.
Oh!....how cool it was. Gene "Seeking the Truth" McDonald, "Peter Kessler" , "Betsy", and me (Mustang)...did the 'magical mystery tour' , non-stop road-kill, I-95 north, pedal to the metal sojourn, where every call to FReedom we shouted out, every mile along the way, our displeasure of the 'Toon.'
We met many, many FReepers from across this Fruited Plain...and we still remain friends. Life is Good!
The party at the Octagon was memorable, too. The place was located in the heart of things, very handy. ChrisRob and I checked out the all the cool architecture in the proximity - White House, Old Executive Office Building, Blair House, etc. Since we weren't in DC very long, that was the only opportunity I really had to take in the sights of that great city.
Ok, here I go again (asked about this a few times on past threads). On my way, from the March for Justice rally, to protest in front of the Whitehouse, I saw on the sidewalk, a plastic red, white, and blue pin shaped like an Uncle Sam/Lincoln hat . I thought a fellow FReeper had dropped it, so I picked it up, put it on for the rest of our visit. We have given it a good home in Oregon. I just wanted its orignal owners to know. Did it belong to one of you?
Still have my T-shirt, and neck ID's.
So many great memories of those magical three days! The Texas hospitality room where the booze flowed freely (well, almost freely). That little weasel from New Republic (Lizza?), slinking around the Premiere with his poison pen at the ready. Standing in line at the Octagon, thinking that if everybody there were as skinny as the blond girl in front of me, I'd have the lion's share of pizza. She must have read my mind, because she turned around and glanced at me. It was Ann Coulter. LOL! I told her, "I just love the way you stick it to those stoopid liberals." She beamed. Whew! I sure wouldn't want her mad at me. Connie, you really should have joined us the night before at the Great American Cafe. What a feast! And it would have been free (!) because Scotsman very generously insisted on picking up the tab for all 14 of us. The man is a prince! Clarity even provided the entertainment, dropping by and doing his stand-up routine.
Of course, the high point of the rally for me was Alan Keyes. God willing, this great statesman will one day be our President!
Smooches and hugs!
Patriot1 and I were in the group of FReepers who came out of the hotel to greet the SamAdams76 convoy from New England. We included pictures of this event in our "Wall of Posters" at our recent FReeper gettogether in Metairie, LA. There is a photo of me waving a large American flag as the convoy arrived. What an inspiring event!
I dig protests....
God Bless. v
