Rush: If McCain had fought for strong military instead of campaign finance "reform", ...

On his radio show today, Rush noted McCain's public dissing of Bush for not being strong enough in tactics and strategy vs. Afghanistan and the Taliban. Rush said, if McCain had been putting his energy into fighting against military cuts, instead of fighting for anti-GOP campaign finance "reform," maybe we'd be better situated to take out the Taliban fast. And anyway, why is McCain joining Dems like Kerry and Biden in publicly beating up on Bush's prosecution of the war? Folks, he's a camera hog - and realizes that bashing the GOP is his ticket to face time on the networks. FOR A REAL SENATE MAJORITY, THE GOP NEEDS FOUR SEATS - - - one to get them to 50; two more to cancel out DEMS IN DISQUISE McCain and Chafee, and one more to give them a one vote majority over the combined Dems plus McCain and Chafee.

It's absolutely astounding that some here criticaze McCain for being captured while praising Rush who avoided service It is also abosolutely astounding that some people think that a person who was close to the bottom of his class at the Naval Academy and got his wings due to his father's connections(McCain) is considered a military genius.

If McCain had fought for strong military instead of campaign finance "reform", ... If so he would enjoy a lot more respect and suffer a lot less contempt. But he didn't.

Limbaugh has said that he received his 4F physical deferment from the draft because of "a football knee from high school." Which is actually not true. In reality, Rush got his deferment because of a pilonidal cyst, which is a congenital incomplete closure of the neural groove at the base of the spinal cord in which excess tissue and hair may collect, causing discomfort and discharge. Not as sexy as a football knee, but a pilonidal cyst it was.

From what I understand Rush has mentioned several reasons for avoiding service - student deferement, knee problems, and others. As I said before I don't hold it against him or anyone else unless they try to make themselves out to be something that they aren't. After all, when it comes to avoiding service Rush is in good company. Draw up a who's who of the House and Senate leadership and there isn't a moment of military service for just about all of them.

Okay. But it wasn't like he tried out to use it get out of service.

What aid and comfort did he give the enemy?
Its all in the link below. His disgusting behavior continues in the Senate. Please note his behavior during the Senate's MIA/POW hearings:
McCain stood out because he always showed up for the committee hearings where witnesses were going to talk about specific pieces of evidence. He would belittle and berate these witnesses, questioning their patriotism and otherwise scoffing at their credibility. All of this is on record in the National Archives.
The War Secrets Sen. John McCain Hides (VERY long but VERY Damning)

Rush's father, Rush Limbaugh Jr., also had a pilonidal cyst, but that didn't keep him out of the service. Rush's father was a fighter pilot during World War II, flying a P-51 Mustang in the Pacific Theater of Operations.

In case anyone missed it, he had a book ghost written for him... Wow, think of it. A politician in the middle of a campaign using a ghost writer to pen a biography. I am shocked. I'm sure that George W. Bush and Al Gore wrote every single word of their books themselves, right?

"...if McCain had been putting his energy into fighting against military cuts, instead of fighting for anti-GOP campaign finance "reform," maybe we'd be better situated to take out the Taliban fast." Interesting assertion, although it doesn't hold water. You can play the shoulda-woulda-coulda game all day and it won't erase what happened on 9-11. I'm not even convinced that a "stronger military" would have stopped the events on 9-11 from transpiring. The terrorists' plans should have been known about beforehand thanks to our well-funded intelligence agencies.
And, if you haven't noticed, Afghanistan was little more than a hole in the ground when we started bombing them, and now they blackened and charred hole in the ground. What would more firepower buy us there? There are only a finite number of air targets, and then the game changes to deployment of ground troops.

It is also abosolutely astounding that some people think that a person who was close to the bottom of his class ... is considered a military genius. Take that up with the Custer and Pickett fanatics on the Civil War posts. Class goats, both of them. Patton was near the bottom, too, and he turned out OK.

The difference is. . .. Patten et al were successful war heros while McSHAME was a traitor.

Is finishing last in your class and defending your country now considered worse than avoiding service because of a cyst on your butt? Actually yes. McCain didn't have the aptitude to be a Navy pilot and if it wasn't for his "family" connections he would have never been allowed in a plane.
By allowing a person who didn't have the aptitude to be a flyer, become one because of ego, is much worse than a person being "4F", IMHO.

Why did you leave out the fact that McCain only got his "wings" because of his family connections in your reply #71?

Let's face it: McCain bombed children and hospitals. He followed orders, yes. But basically, he was a War Criminal. So, just how are you related to Ho Chi Minh?

You're slanderous comment should not be ignored just because you said it about an idiot like McCain.
There was NEVER a mission against innocent civilians in hospitals in Vietnam, and losers like you who keep screaming baby-killer make me sick!! Being called a baby-killer sticks in my mind more then many of my memories of military service, and I didnt even get in until 1977!!

You're not calling McCain a War Slut, are you?

Right now Mc Cain does not look like much of an American. McCain is a petty, self inflated little tyrant. Hope the Recall drive does not have to start all over again. I would dearly love to see somone let the air out of him.
