President Bush visited Thurgood Marshall Extended Elementary in DC today and announced the formation of the 'Friendship Through Education' program designed to link students from the U.S. with students from schools overseas with Muslim students. He also continued to comfort children by assuring them that they have voices and can make a difference in this war on terrorism. While Dubya was making the kids laugh, his mom was in Omaha, NE making an audience do the same thing as she shared stories about her family. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!
Thanks to lawgirl for filling in last night while RWP shopped til she dropped!
He is a happy man, no doubt about it!! (And I'm guessing Laura is pretty happy herself!!)
Ain't that the truth!! Well, think of the comparison between wives, annie!! Even if he were the unfaithful type (which he's most decidedly not), why would he ever be unfaithful to Laura??
I mean really........he's not a fool (and she's not either)!! LOL!!!!
Nope, it's here! My van just about blew off the road tonight! Yikes!!
Do you have snow predicted for tomorrow up there in the northland??
YES! He's also a fantastic father. Remember the Times spread on him during the election thing? Tons of pics of him on his Texas ranch, wandering around, showing the "city" reporters what it was really like there. Anyway, the new ranch house was being built, and he was quoted in the article calling the swimming pool under construction the "whining pool." When the media asked him why, he said it was because Barbara and Jenna had been whining constantly for a pool to be added to the plans for the new ranch house until he and Laura finally said yes. Too funny! Sounds like something my hubby would have said; maybe that's why I was so amused by it. My guess is that the pool was in the master plan all along, but he continued to bait the twins cuz it was just so much fun!
I think Cheney may be toning things down or pulling back just a tad so that President Bush is firmly placed center-stage as Commander-in-Chief. A VP needs to be seen as 2nd-in-command, rather than tied for first, ;) so that may be why he seems less "fired up" right now.
As for the President, I think we're settling into the "long haul" aspect of this war--what he needs now, more than anything IMO, is endurance. I thought yesterday's speech at the Dixie Printing Co was very inspiring, but only after I saw it--he's the kind of person that seems to connect best visually....does that make sense? Anyway, I think today was less intense just because of the audience. I just wish he wasn't running into so many brick walls with the Senate. I was realizing on my way home tonight that cooperation right now only seems to be a priority from the Republican side. The 'rats are still playing power games and it's really awful.
Try not to let the media get to you, though, they're a bunch of idiots and it seems to me that normal, everyday people are beginning to see that or at least that they're not buying the nonsense that the media is spewing.
I don't know where I heard or read this, but someone pointed out that our president doesn't spend a lot of time intellectualizing and rationalizing things and what that means is that when he speaks he really connects with the American people. I think that is a great strength of his, and it means that regardless of the nonsense that comes from the idiots in the media, the people who count really respond to him on a basic, personal level.
Ultimately, I believe God put him where he is now, and He did so for a purpose. And God's purposes will be fulfilled, no one can stand against that.
