Note From Ted Olson
email

Posted on 10/22/2001 1:17:52 PM PDT by Paul Rodriguez

"I so very much appreciate all the kind thoughts and good wishes expressed by the Free Republic readers.

Barbara was a great fan of Free Republic.

The knowledge of how much Barbara was loved and admired has been my chief consolation in these difficult days.

Sincerely,
Theodore B. Olson"

I've printed out the astounding outpouring of love and good will up through 173 and these will be delivered to Ted in the morning by messenger.

My God, reading them has brought tears to my eyes.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing. I cannot speak for Ted but I'm confident he'll be deeply moved.

As long as you folks keep writing, I'll keep my promise to print and forward.

Paul

Even though I didn't know her personally I always felt that my voice was being heard when she appeared on TV talk shows. She will always be our Barbara.

I'm so glad you identified yourself, Paul, sure it must be you!

Seeing you on C-Span one Saturday morning, I was so very impressed with your integrity and your patience in handling those who called in to comment that I e-mailed you - and you answered!!
No automatic responder, but a real live person taking the time to thank me....

You are an American to be greatly admired - a shining light contrasting with
the living-in-the-dark variety of editors out there.
Thank you for your boldness in presenting your faith, your ideals and your heart,
making a difference in this nation.

Our love for both Barbara and Ted is beyond mere words - they are FAMILY, as you are.

Most sincerely,

When I pulled into the driveway this evening I saw the package at the door that meant Barbara's book had arrived. While I have been anxiously awaiting it, I was hit once more with the fact that she is gone. As I retrieved it, I was tearing up all over again. No sadness we feel can compare to what you must be feeling -my prayers are with you. I hope you find comfort in knowing how loved she was by so many who never had the chance to meet her but were touched by her wisdom and talent. God Bless! Terri

Paul,

You've done FreeRepublic a real service by posting this note from Ted.

The note from Ted is just what you'd expect from the man I came to know during the election fight.

Barbara will be missed terribly both on FreeRepublic and on the airways, where she always conducted herself with real class. I almost couldn't bear watching the panel on Larry King with that smarmy liberal lawyer but I had to keep returning, just to listen to her.

Somehow Barbara could keep her calm demeanor and refute everything he said (when she could get a word in).

We are all blessed with our memories of her and she will never be forgotten here.

Amen! There aren't many attorneys out there I have respect except for Barbara, her husband, the attorneys, including Jim Baker and some powerful Fla. democrats who knew that "we won and had to prevail." And, of course lawgirl here at FR.

I've prayed for him, and his and Barbara's family and friends daily since this happened. My heart aches for them, and I will continue to remember them in my prayers.

Barbara was a wonderful gift to all of us - not only to her lovely family. We're very grateful that Ted understands she had a lot of friends out here who miss her as though she were one of our own. It was very kind of him to recognize the fact that WE do miss her so very dearly too.

No problem. Better to be pinged twice than not to be pinged at all. :-)

Mr. Olson, just know that we may never know your grief but our heartfelt sympathies go out to you. We admired and loved your wife very much, sir. May God bless you and keep you also, Mercy
