Listening to these fools try to harass the Sect. Of Defense, and the other assinine questions about operations makes me wonder if the first amendment protects absolute shmucks other than these paid fools.

The first time a reporter asks a really stupid question, he should immediately end the news conference. After a few times, they'll get the message.

Exactly what I thought watching the whole thing.
To: Tai_Chung
I'm afraid I agree with you.

Sounds good to me.

The press conference can always be replaced by a more popular conference. The Kings of France would often do this sort of popular appeal when they lost support of the local Lords. A few kings were elected by the people that way. We need to do the same and boot out the elite press and let Freepers and other groups do the questioning as a popular power check against the elite journalistic bastards.

But the press briefings are fun to watch because Donald Rumsfield nails those reporters and their stupid questions. He is good. Those reporters just keep getting smacked down, and keep coming back for more. Have you ever heard such stupid questions in your life?

I remember during Desert Storm when Saturday Night Live did an excellent parody of the media asking stupid question. Maybe they need to resurrect the skit..

What did Rummy say about (suspension of?) bombing during Rammadan (sp?)?

The worst question asked of Rumsfeld today:
Can we send reporters along on one of these specfor raids?

"What did Rummy say about (suspension of?) bombing during Ramadan?"
He said that Muslim factions have fought against each other for centuries and that the holy days (Ramadan, etc.) never seemed to interfere with their battles before.

I do LOVE when Rummy puts on his grumpy face and lets them have it!

Thanks. I only hope the pressure not to fight during this so-called "holy month" won't be used to tie our hands.
Can you imagine our enemies stopping attacks during Lent or Advent?

"The worst question asked of Rumsfeld today: Can we send reporters along on one of these specfor raids?" How about the question regarding differing stories from the Taliban and the Pentagon? The idiot actually asked him who they were to believe. LOL...I need an alarm to alert me to his press conferences. They get funnier every time.

The reply should have been: 1. Are you jump qualified? 2. When do you you want to leave? Next question.

I like watching the look on his (Rumsfeld's) face when they ask these assinine questions. You can just see him thinking "Are you a complete moron, that you think I'm answering that question?", then he gives a relatively tactful answer. But it's clear what he thinks of most of these dimbulbs and their constant pathetic attempts to try and get him to give away military secrets.
To: The Wizard
Ah yes, it's hilarious to watch Rumsfeld dissemble the media. You just gotta love it.
I'm not sure if it's my imagination or what, but I have noticed over the last several weeks the "reporters" at the Pentagon press briefings have been getting older and older and the dress has become quite a bit more professional. You think maybe the media outlets are starting to catch on and realize this is grown-up time?
